Crashed on his motorcycle - apparently driving too fast, lost control and hit a tree. He got the bike last year and was obsessed with it since.

He wasn't a close friend of mine, but he was around our gang for the last few years and had some good times together. We were just with him last night, and few hours ago he was teasing us on FB. Just sucks how quickly things can change.

Anyway...felt like sharing, no real point to make.

RIP

As a very passionate driver myself, i loved LOVED motorbikes, but after racing a car i cant accept anyone driving a bike at high speed.

In the local drifting community we have 4 motorbike racers, 1 professional one and also a maniac street racer, he himself left the bikes because of the danger, he said to us once that in all the highway trips they made they always lost 1 or 2 bikers.

And recently one of our racing companions crashed in a motocross (same shit, ur body is the chassis) and fractured both legs, he wont even compete this year, he was so crushed and sad, it broke me up hearing about him.

Too easy to die or have a great loss while driving motorbikes. Nah.

Sorry to hear that, Croatia lost more people in traffic accidents than in the war.

Here in brazil we have about 60 thousand dead in traffic accidents each year. Most of them involving motorcycles... Sad

It's weird to think about it, that such fact didn't stop me from getting a bike... Maybe I'm not entirely aware of the danger, but riding is fun. I do know that if I crash it could mean months in the hospital (or death), which is why I ride as safe as I can, but it's full of idiots out there so shit can happen any day...

Sorry to hear about your buddy.

Sorry, man. But I steer clear of motorcycles as they're constant source of accidents.
If it's not on four wheels and surrounded by metal I ain't hitting the road too far on it. roads are pretty crowded these days and a motorcycle might provide advantage in cutting through traffic but it'll also send you flying if you get hit.

Sorry to hear that Bearish. A guy that was in my old project group shared the same tragic destiny last year, apparently hit a bump at high speed (cause roads here are a complete disgrace) and invaded the other lane crashing into a van :<. There was nothing to do..

Yup it's exactly the same for me too. I would love to have one, but it's just too dangerous here. Small roads, too many cars around, and crazy drivers everywhere. It would be like playing with death and I do not like the idea D:

That sucks Sad And he was my age (25 yrs.) Sad Too young...

That's why my mom always say that they should sell a grave place with motorbikes :\

As FM said, they are not safe, especially when you have stupid drivers around you.

Meh, as long as you don't try to be macho and "play" with your bike, drive illegally you'll be fine. I'm glad I live in a country where it's actually quite difficult to get a MC-license.

Sorry to hear about that.

Pretty much everyone I know (or have known) who have had a motorcycle have had at least one bad crash on them.

That includes my two cousins, my uncle and a few friends - and some friends of these guys.

My personal opinion is that if you value the pleasure of riding a motorcycle more than your own life without a motorcycle - then you have a very strange set of priorities.

I've had two girlfriends who both wanted to have motorcycles - and though I would never tell them what to do, I've tried to passionately argue against it. They're both ex'es now, but I sure hope they don't get bikes.

It's simply too risky and I consider people riding them fools for doing so.

Thanks guys.

Yeah he was sober. It's just someone I hung out with primarily on the weekends so I felt that title best describes my relationship with him.

Depends on where you ride (there are different regulations/traffic situations) in different countries. For example (in USA):

"55 out of every 100,000 registered motorcycles was involved in a fatal crash, compared with only 9 out of every 100,000 passenger cars" (per annum). (source: http://www.iii.org/issues_updates/motorcycle-crashes.html )

In Sweden (a country of roughly 9 million people) there was 32 fatal accidents in one year. Which is significantly lower (about 1/5:th as likely in Sweden compared to USA). (source: http://www.svmc.se/smc_filer/SMC%20centralt/Statistik%202013/D%C3%96DADE%20MOTORCYKLISTER%202012.pdf)

One of the main reasons why Sweden has a much lower rate of motorcycle accidents (in spite of having around 300000 more or less active registered motorcycle drivers) is due to the harder regulations for getting an A-card (which is our MC-card). In Sweden, driving a motorcycle is not much more dangerous than swimming (97 deaths in Sweden, 2012) (you have to take into account that there likely are more than 300000 more or less active swimmers).

No doubt getting an MC-license should not be taken lightly, but to say that a motorcyclist is "a fool" is a bit overly fear-driven.

Bikes are dangerous i agree , I'm a bigger myself have been for 5 years now, not a single accident, but the main problem is other car drivers, normally dosey fuckers who should not have a licence in the first place.

I agree. Been riding for over 20 years. And the only time i was almost hurt was because of a moron not paying attention.

But a lot of my friends have hurt themselves with no one to blame but themselves.

Zipfero dont dismiss that, one of the main reasons i never got a bike, not even to pussy drive it was because people drive like shit and a mistake from someone else can make u lose control very easily on a bike, aaaand if they DO hit you, you wont be able to do shit. And people usually dont respect bikers either so...

Still.... driving something which has a meat and bones chassis is a no-no in my mind.
