@lopin
I have exactly the same. For example... i think i'm about 1 hour before the end of Bioshock but i just can't motivate myself to finish it. And seeing my history of finishing games i probably never will.

Just a temporary burnout probably. Had a few times that no game kept my interest. I just stopped gaming for a bit doing other stuff and then one day some game sparks it up again and the beauty is: You have built a backlog with quite some stellar games. Just stop forcing yourself in your hobby, switch it up a bit.

HMmm its been like that for almost 6 months i think, i get excited with a game i play it a lot for a week then its over, to the queue again.
Its probably the anxiety of the other things i have pending (car being prepared to race, work, studies).
Sometimes i just think that ive played too many games in my life and everything is just more of the same, diferent color. Most of the games i like playing mostly are sandbox games, like minecraft, dont starve, dwarf fortress, Kerbal space program but those are the most innovative games ive played ever so no wonder i keep interest.
But shooters, fps, rpgs, most strategy games. sick of them, cant even go past the main menu lol

Hey gratz.. you're an adult now.. dont cry, enjoy.. games are such a waste of time.. you have a pc, use it for maya, 3dsmax, C++, java, web design, there are so many things you can do.. just not games.. learn stuff and enjoy being creative afterwards..

I can relate! Bioshock infinite is the first game Inactually finished in a very long time.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I know its unrelated to age, but i did lose interest in them, only reason i play the sandboxes is because i can be creative and.... DO something i want. Other than that i do feel time being wasted playing the same shit in diferent colors.
But yeah im gonna dig deeper into programming because the only time that time flies by at work is when im actually programming, when im navigating or playing or watching videos i just fall asleep or get bored. Im trying to get into game programming, to explore it, but im finding it dificult, maybe ill try doing something stupid first.

Try another genre. I was getting sick of alot of games a few years back, that all changed when I out of nowhere bought Civilization V and started out. That sparked something. And ignore Vikerness advice playing is as important for yourself now as it was when you were a kid. Makes the brain all smart, ya'know? Why separate creativity and play?

He probably means that having fun doesnt only grow on playing, also working on something that may require thinking and creativity also fills it too. (I have loads of fun programming at work)
But i wanna find more innovative games, thats why i lurk everyday the indie games forums to see what comes out of the creative minds, big games have ruined my interest.
Stuff like this:

Hhahaha its so neat.

I bet that this the main cause of all problems, add to it your constant anger due to your fucked up country and the mix is complete. xD
There are times when I have a lot of stuff to do, work-related or simply overwhelming real life annoyances, and I feel more difficult to concentrate and enjoy games like I would in a hypothetical scenario with me being 100% relaxed. Though usually I manage to win this sense of unwillingness and end up having a lot of fun anyway even with my old worn out brain

The passion comes and goes as your life evolves and you get other things to think about.
I've found that overexposure of pretty much anything will eventually dry out your interest - but if it's a true passion, it will come back in some form or another.
Likely, you have other things on your mind - and maybe something is missing in your life and your mind/body is trying to send you a message?
I'm 36 years old - and my passion for gaming peaked when I was around 16-20 years old. For some reason, I remember BioForge as the first game that I loved - but didn't actually enjoy as much as I think I should have. I was around 18-19 years old back then.
Since that time, my passion for gaming has waxed and waned - and only a couple of months ago it was near zero. But there's a reason for that (I'm getting in shape and I need a GF atm) - but I've managed to pace myself a bit and I've enjoyed quite a bit of gaming lately. Bioshock Infinite was a revelation, for instance.
So, it's very natural I'd say.

felt the same, but Path of Exile has restored my faith in games somewhat. Its a very complex game when you get into it and has that level of quality you'd find in pc games of 10-15 years ago. Give it a try as its also free so you can just jump into it.
I feel like a Grinding gear games employee trying to promote the game to everyone but its really good. Especially if you're a fan of arpgs and mostly Diablo.
Looking forward to Neverwinter which is going open beta tomorrow but from watching some of the stream videos of people with early beta access the game seems reminiscent of GW2, overly simplified and catering to people who just love running around, being spoonfed information on where to go and what to do, complete quests, rinse and repeat ad nasium...

the curse of growing older I say.
My interest in games is still there, but not nearly as strong as it was say 5 years ago.
Still try to find time to complete my backlog, clocking in at around 19 hours for darksiders 2 and that's over a period of 3 weeks.

I used to be an avid gamern but even when I wanna play, I easily get sidetracked listening to music, watching shows, documentaries, reading history stuff on wiki. Doesn't appeal to me the way it used to
But I got a hell of a kick finishing Bioshock Infinity though!
On the other side, if this goes on, everytime I'd like to play a really good game, there will be one that was released, and that I didn't "touch" yet, so it's good news too
