Looks like Resident Evil, but better in, like, every way.

Considering the term "survival horror" was coined by Capcom to describe Resident Evil 1 (which had shooting albeit you could easily become overpowered by the enemies), I'd say the term is being used appropriately.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Dunno i dont have anything against shooting in survival horror games if its done right, that means scarce ammo and so on like in the early resident evil and silent hill games.

@Neon: Did you play the same early SH games I played?
They had both "weapons" and "guns".
Unless you don't mean it in literal terms.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."

REmake with Chris and "mountain climbing" difficulty is very HARD.
Bang bang and poof the enemies are gone? WRONG motherfucker they re-return back to life as super fast, superviolent Crimson Heads. http://residentevil.wikia.com/Crimson_Head
Then there are the Hunters that often do their one hit -> dead attack
And what about RE1 PSX Director's Cut? That's ridiculously hard

still better than another wolf game which at best were medicore anyway. hope they understood why resident franchise is in decline.
also trailer was very nice, oldschool vibe ftw, brings back memories of evil dead and hellraiser franchise.

So glad it's not a new Wolfenstein Bethesda was going to announce but a whole new game, and a survival horror one at that. I like what I've seen and read so far even if it's not a whole lot at the moment. Anyway, it feels and sounds like a very exciting title to me.

Engine: id tech 5.
Quite the improvement compared to Rage (textures are low res but not over compressed and the lighting is far far better).

Better translation: http://gematsu.com/2013/04/the-evil-within-story-key-features-detailed
Quote: | Story
When Detective Sebastian and his partner rush to the scene of a gruesome mass murder, a mysterious, powerful force is lying in wait for them. Witnessing the killing of fellow police officers one after another, Sebastian is then attacked and loses consciousness. Waking up in a land where monsters are wandering about, Sebastian has to fight his way through a world of death and its close friend madness in order to understand what’s going on. Sebastian has to face his fears in order to survive on a journey to discover what lies in the shadows of that mysterious force.
Key Features
A Return to Pure Survival Horror: From the father of the survival horror genre, Shinji Mikami. He appears once again as the director of this game, one which makes your blood run cold, but heats you right back up. Players must survive on limited resources, experiencing that supreme match of action and horror, that indescribable terror. To survive in an afflicted world, your anxiety and nerves will be pushed to the edge.
Brutal Traps and Enemies with Puzzles: While struggling to survive, you’ll have to face indescribable terror, cruel traps, and sly mechanisms. Players can die in a trap all too easily, however, at times they can turn them against enemies.
In an Unstable World, Not All Horrors are in Plain Sight: The player is driven into a corner as the world distorts and warps according to mysterious and evil horrors. The scenery: hallways, walls, doors, rooms, buildings, and even nature, all transforming in real time based on the player’s actions. And the threats keep coming from all directions.
A Supernova of Horror: By setting one foot in this world weaved from lush backdrops, characters with personality, and a polished story, players will be sucked in, willing or unwilling, tension and anxiety rapidly mounting. When that fear is smashed and conquered, you can experience the bliss that can only be found in The Evil Within. |
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
