I'm thinking about modding my PS2. However, i've read about some PS1 games that have a anti-mod protection.

My question is:
-Does this work?
-Does it require a different patch for each game (or 1 patch for all games)
-Do you have to download that game or can i just extract the image from the original game and then patch it?

on some sites it says that a few PS1 games needs to be patched with a ppf file. Anyone ever tried this? And how did you do that?

When copying PS1 games you have to patch them... I used to use PPF-O-Matic (I think thats what its called) you just have to make a Bin and Cue of the PS1 Game with CDRWin etc and use PPF-O-Matic and the proper patch to patch the image... then burn with CDRWin

Depends on what Laser you have in your PS2... Some can read +... (I think the Newer PS2 Versions can read +)

But I use - because they are cheaper and + doesnt work in my V4

So the quality is the same (cause i've heared about playing NTSC games gives Black-White ->MAtrix Infinity)?

That would totally kick ass.

Putting a RIP in once or twice for a few minutes wont fooook the laser up, Its just mainly if your playing non stop for 30mins - 1hour... If you get hold of a Rip, put it in and listen to your poor laser working very hard... Sad

pfft, just had my ps2 modded, the guy said that the best DVD's are Ritek G04. So i've looked at some forums and some people say to stay away from those.

What are the best dvd's for ps2? (TDK, Emtec, Ritek,...)

Still doubting about what DVD writer to buy to burn these Riteks:
PIONEER Internal DVR-A07XLB 8X +/- DVD-R/RW Writer Retail
NEC 2510 Black Internal DUAL LAYER 8X +/- DVD-R/RW Writer Bulk SONY DRU-700A Internal DUAL LAYER 8X +/- DVD-R/RW Writer RetailLITE-ON 832S Internal DUAL LAYER 8X +/- DVD-R/RW Writer Retail

They say the Pioneer is the best, but it ain't DL. Is it worth purchasing?

Also, is it possible to copy a DVD9 game to 2 DVD5? -> what program? and where do you know where to swap?

The short answer is no, you can't. You can rip the the contents of dvd9 games to make them fit a dvd5, but that requires a bit of skill.

Hardware: Ryzen 3700x, B450 MSI Gaming Pro carbon AC, GTX1080, 32 GB 3200 Mhz cas 14, 256 EVO SSD, 1 TB EVO SSD and 4 TB HDD.
Console: xbox, wii and xbox 360

Yeah, I only use Ritek G04 discs, but whichever you use, the darker the dye is, the better.

And, on the subject of NTSC with PAL, make sure you get a FULL rgb scart cable, otherwise it does play in black & white.

Also, I have seen a patcher that converts NTSC to PAL games, and vica versa. Anyone else heard of this ? Any good ?

I'm too damn lazy to try it if it rubbish Razz
