Release Date: 2013

Gametrailers Gameplay Teaser

Quote:
Ace Combat Infinity (エースコンバット インフィニティ; Ēsu Konbatto Infiniti) is an upcoming free-to-play action video game in development by Project Aces exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
It is the eighteenth title in the Ace Combat series, and was formally announced by Namco Bandai Games on August 2, 2013.
It will be the first free-to-play title in the Ace Combat series, and will take place on Earth; however, it will also include certain elements from past Ace Combat games, including certain historical events, superweapons, and original planes.

So I watched the trailer and really got the Ace Combat feel from it, then I read it's gonna be F2P.. I dunno what to think now.
The trailer looks like good old ace combat again but how can this work in F2P? I'm worried.

It's easy to work in F2P, just lock all the aeroplanes behind a pay wall, lock weapon loadouts, lock arenas, hell... lock SP missions too.

If this keeps going we're gonna go full circle and lock the entire game and arrive back at normal full price games.

The worst thing about F2P is that you actually end up paying more than you would have had you bought it in one go, that's how this microtransaction piecemeal bullshit gets you Sad

The worst thing about F2P is when they actually manage to make an impressive game and fuck it all up with paywalls. ;p

I still maintain that only League of Legends has managed to do it right. I love their F2P model. You can earn decent amounts of IP to not have to spend a penny if you don't want.

I've been playing a lot of King's Road in my spare moments too, and I haven't had to spend a single penny their yet.

It's all about how they want to do it really.. I have no problem with F2P with the correct model, but so many companies fuck it up, especially when they actually have a really good game. Sad

I think DoTA 2 does it the best : the only thing you need to pay is just extra skins to customize your heros, which is completely uselss except if you care about cosmetic stuff.

So yeah F2P isnt always 100% bad thanksfully. (but it is in 99% of the cases ;()
