Anyone know a cheap online shop to buy a Windows 7 key?
Was looking at this site: http://www.windows7productkeystore.org/ but not sure if its a legit and/or safe site to buy from?

They probably bought a huge bunch of the cheap keys before price tripled (or more) Feb. 1st.

May I ask why you would like to buy it and not just apply an activator?

I prefer running things legally. But then I got my Ultimate copy for free in a special commemorative edition. No messing with activators, KMS servers, issues with 180 day re-activation, Upgrade issues when Microsoft update the upgrade software etc. etc. etc.

None of these problems happen with current activators. On Windows 8, that's a bigger problem, but on Windows 7, it is as simple as clicking a button.

Until MS release some new patches on some patch-tuesday. On the other hand perhaps they grew tired and feel they've made enough on Win7 to stop spending so much effort on piracy.
I still feel safer with a legit OS. I've gotten my OS'es free since Win2000 as an internal betatester.

Unless they replace the entire activation mechanism (like they did with Win8), they cannot do anything. All they may do is blacklist the keys used, but 1. there are so many keys leaked already, and more importantly 2. these keys are used by million legit systems, which would mean they'd blacklist millions of legit users. Not going to happen.

The only update for win7 ever released that detects activators is the infamous "KB971033", but it is completely optional, and up to you to install. As long as you disable it in windows updates you can install all the other security patches without problems, the OS runs just as if it was genuine.

and because 30$ ain't that much, shit that's less than double some of the games I buy today, and because I've been using Windows for 20years, and because I can now

I recently stumpled upon culgame.com, it sells win7 and 8 for 30 dollars, but this is never possible to be fully legit. The keys are usually technet/developer keys, which are not allowed to be resold. Most of the time they do work though, and it's a good way to buy yourself a semi-legit windows update subscription. But beware, when you reinstall, the key wont activate again. Tried it for my g/f as she doesnt really want to pay for windows. There is a tool though, dont remember what its called, that you can use to backup your activation and then restore it when you reinstall, without calling home to redmond.

Yay, I'm on my new Win 7 64bit!
but I can't register it because it's on GUID partition
should I reformat and make it MBS?

MBR and yes, do so! The activation tools don't work on drives formatted with GPT.

only my SSD can be MBR, and my 2TB WD can be GUID?
or both need to be MBR?

Aye, the SSD is fine - only the boot drive needs to be MBR.
