I was going from a store and saw a guy walking his little dog, and his dog took a shit in front of my house. So I started yelling that he should pick up after his dog, and that I'm sick and tired of dogs taking a shit in front of my house, and that I have to clean that!

The guy was all like: you don't have to yell.

And I said that I'll bring a plastic bag and that he'll pick it up, and honestly, I thought that he'll punch me or sth or try to go into my face. But he didn't.

So I gave him a plastic bag, he picked it up, and I said: next time bring your own bag!

Well, I think this is my first time doing sth like that, and it feels kinda good xD But I'm definitely not a conflict kinda guy, and I'm shaking a bit, since I was expecting that he'll go berserk (in which case my training of Muay Thai would come in handy grinhurt ahhaha).

But seriously, if you have a dog, then that means you need to pick up his shit! It's your responsibility, not mine!
Stupid ppl...

It gets on my nerves.

I live next door to a large (ish) public green and have three young kids.

Sounds ideal ?

Well its not because of people with dogs who dont clean up their shit.

We do Guide Dog Puppy Walking (http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/aboutus/whatwedo/training/puppywalking/) and I really really hate dealing with shit, but on the odd occasion when I do walk the dog I clean the shit up, even though I hate it, why do I clean it up because I am not a wanker! thats why.

If I can clean it up, so can anyone else.

I never clean up after he takes his shit, but he never takes it where people walk, so i'm grateful for that Very Happy

And just a FYI, we pay taxes for our dogs here, meaning those taxes are for the gov to clean the streets of dogshit (now ofc they don't do that with that money..)

But thats wrong, the allocated purpose of dog taxes are the general funds, nowhere in the law is it indicated that dog taxes were meant to be used to clean your dogs shit. I see alot of dog owners using this excuse to validate their idiocy, you know full well the government isnt going to clean that shit. Saying that they "should" because you pay tax is a mute argument. They only clean the special shit areas where dogs can shit on some kind of special gravel which they remove each two weeks, but I fucking doubt your dog shits there.

Clean your dogs shit you lazy bum, its revolting and you might not consider it annoying, however other people definitely will.

Even if your dog doesn't shit on the sidewalk, rain water could easily pull the shit towards the sewer drain, which is pretty much always next to the sidewalk, not to mention that looking at dog shit all over the place is not enjoyable.

And who the fuck are you to tell me what to do, we don't even have a special "dogshitzone" here, yet we have to pay (wich i btw refuse to do and never will do)..
But the 20+ cats that rip open garbagebags and cause the street to be full with litter once a week is fine then i guess? Rolling Eyes

Well he has a point, why get a dog when you can't handle all responseabilities?

We had a lot of dogs when growing up, all were trained and either they did their stuff in the designated area or we picked up after it.

It's lazyness and you know it Don't have to justify it with other stuff

Since this is no longer the case (there are more cats swarming the street without owner then dogs), it's implied that they should use it for that instead of hiding behind some stupid regulation out of the freakin stoneage

I don't let my dog shit in front of where people live - I take him to a nearby forest or a large field. That said, some people get upset even if it's out in nature where no one is living because it's "near" where people are walking by or whatever. I have to say I don't care, because then the issue is fucking tiny - and some people need to get a life.

I'm fine with nature, I know that there is this green area by the road where I live, and ppl take their dogs there to take a dump. It's fine with me, as long as they don't do it on the green where children play or sth like that.

If it's on a remote part of dirt where nobody goes, it's fine I guess.

But in front of the entrance to my house?! I get pissed at that.

Just walked the dog, so i could show you where he takes his shit for 99% of the time in the past year, 3 times a day.

 Spoiler:

EVERYONE that lives there, doesn't mind that (i asked them, 1by1 personally). Because they ain't as uptight as mr "moeteensachterdegeraniumsuitkomen" is Laughing
Plus dogshit acts as fertilizer for the green there.

Now cats on the other hand, this is what i deal with on a weekly basis:

 Spoiler:

But saying anything about that towards the gov here is pointless, they don't care. So aslong they refuse to do their job properly and get rid of those cats, i'm in full right to deny them my tax.

I understand that and I would be annoyed too. Can't say I'm all that bothered with dogshit overall - probably because I have a dog of my own, but it's definitely bad behavior to let them take a shit in front of a house. That's just asking for trouble.

But in the grand scheme of things it's a pretty minor issue for me. Something that does piss me off, though, are people who let their dogs bark loudly all day long - or people who can't turn their crap music down consistently when you tell them to.

@sausje

Yup, that's the kind of place where I'm ok with my dog taking a shit. But some people have a problem with it - but I can't really be bothered. There's no way it can bother anyone unless they've made up their minds to be pissed at a trivial thing like that.

For some strange reason this seems to depend on where in Sweden you live.
I lived in malmö and did barely see any dogpoo around on sidewalks and grass, moved to trelleborg and I stepped in one outside my fucking flat... >.<

The feeling I got from over there was that as long as its not on a path way where you walk your dog can shit and people dont clear it up. to me its not right, because kids will run everywhere, sometimes you have to go retrieve items from kids or such and yup you go step in that and you wont be amused..

Clean up after your dog..

or get one of these ffs.

This.

And I do carry bags just in case my dog does take a shit somewhere like in front of someone's house. But he nearly always goes where I want him to.

Lots of people break the law everyday with different things. Breaking the speed limit is far worse than not cleaning up after your dog and a lot more people do that. What's worse, putting other peoples life's in danger or not cleaning up dog shit.

Well like i said before, the taxes i "should" pay for keeping a dog, where invented in the stoneage, so dogs wouldn't swarm the streets and because of rabies.
Now that those things are actually completely gone, here in the NL, i find that they gov should use that money for cleaning the streets once per week or month or so...
Because now they are just using our taxmoney as excuse to get more income.

But yeah, i always carry a bag with me, just in case. But it rarely happens Razz

So let me get this straight. you got a dog and you ignore the responsibilities of having a dog because of the taxes that you don't pay for having a dog are meant to clean up after your dog.

Good Job.

Anyone who doesn't clean up after their dog regardless of where it shits should not have a dog in the first place. It's one of the responsibilities of having a dog and you can't handle it, then you really shouldn't have a dog. Just saying. Just cause you feed it, doesn't mean you're responsible. it's a whole package. Walking the dog, treating the dog with respect, cleaning after your dog, feeding it, giving it time of day, training it, etc are all aspects of owning a dog. heck they're all responsibilities that come with owning any household animal as a pet.

Really shocked at reading what people are saying here. Just cause people don't walk in one particular area doesn't mean it's ok.

I don't not do it because of me finding it disgusting, just pure out of frustration towards the local gov here.

First they need to kill those 20+ cats that trash the place, then i start thinking of actually doing my "job" and clean up and pay taxes for him...

But still, not doing 1 out of many responsibilities, doesn't mean that people can't have a dog...
By that logic nobody should be doing anything, because more then 90% of humanity neglect it's responsibilities..

But lemme guess Waldo, you don't own a dog that you need to walk 5 times a day right?
Because i bet that 99.9% of dog owners would agree that if their dog would take a shit where nobody ever would come (like the place mine does), that they don't think they need to clean it up.

So because they don't do what you think they should (kill the cats), you don't have to do what they say you should (pay your taxes)?

well maybe you should jog in heavily crowded areas where 'responsible' dog owners don't allow their dogs to poop. y'know. you're such an inconsiderate asshole walking around in sneakers and stepping on poop. SOME PEOPLE END UP SMELLING IT ON YOUR SHOES WHEN THEY INVITE YOU TO THEIR HOME FOR BISCUITS AND TEA! HAVE SOME DECENCY!
