what causes this shit? started a few days ago, im using the latest firefox and only tab names are affected
tried some solutions, didnt resolved it http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/912817

i didnt tried to reinstall firefox cause i have a shitload of tab folders saved (they cant be saved and restored after reinstalling right?)

I use the 'roomy bookmarks toolbar' extension so only have the icons with no writing.

Works well for me.

Have you tried to reset the preferences or create a new profile?

You can also try different default fonts and temporarily disable website fonts
