"Cube is an open source multiplayer and singleplayer first person shooter game built on an entirely new and very unconventional engine. Cube is a landscape-style engine that pretends to be an indoor FPS engine, which combines very high precision dynamic occlusion culling with a form of geometric mipmapping on the whole world for dynamic LOD for configurable fps & graphic detail on most machines. . . does decent collision detection & physics, has client/server networking that goes a long way in giving a lag-free game experience, and features a Doom/Quake-style singleplayer (2 game modes, savegames) and multiplayer (12 game modes, master server / server browser, demo recording) game with some uncompromising brutal oldskool gameplay."

Cube has apparently been ported to the Pocket PC by Intel. It only works on the Dell X50v, as it uses Intel's 2700G graphics accelerator. I downloaded Cube last night and gave it a quick once over. As these screenshots show, I'd say it was well worth a longer look. It is a work in progress and is currently completely unoptimised, but getting 16 frames a second while wandering round a nicely rendered landscape in full 3D is impressive. You can get more details of the game at the cube website and you can download it from sourceforge . I like the future of portable gaming! Very Happy

I just tried the game myself. It's a bit slow but it is a good start. I'm posting this in the pc game thread because It's opensource and available for win32, osx and unix/linux.
