I hate glasses. I bought them year ago and rarely wear them, becaues they are annoying as hell.
I have eagle assassin vision in them, so they are very good (I am always like "whoa fuck that is sharp") but why not to try contacts ?

I have myopia in two eyes. that is around -1,5 in both eyes.

My glasses are -1. the doctor year ago said that I should wear weaker glasses than my actual visual defect, so my head won't hurt

so my question is. Since contacts can be bought cheaply nearly everywhere, like rossmann, optic shops (ophthalmologist) etc... what do I buy ?

Should I just get a pair of -1 lenses ? 1day? month?

edit: I just want to try out contacts for a month or so. If I will be comfortable wearing contacts and the thing won't be too expensive, I will visit an optic doctor to set me up the proper way

I use soft lenses that I switch every month. Of course when I go to bed I put them out, put them in some liquid that cleans the lens and I put them back in when I wake up. I have no trouble with them whatsoever, but that's not the case for everyone. Just try a pair for a time and see how it feels.

I've been to the doctor a year ago and still have results. No need to repeat the test. My sight is not any bit worse than year ago.

I am just asking a general knowledge about contact lenses and should I get -1 or -1,5 (as explained in first post)

I will go to optician when I decide, that I want to wear contacts after a month tryout etc

btw. (I will get them maybe tomorrow at vision express. Maybe they will diagnoze my eyes proper way)

lenses aren't sold like this. You need a prescription (eye doctor, opticien with proper license) and then the store/opticien oders them for you, with your exact numbers needed, like you do with glasses.

I use them now for 7 or 8 years, best decision ever.

You can't just buy some random lenses and try them out. Go to a proper doctor and ask for some infomation. He'll take into account the state of your eyes and give some proper advice. Eyes are very sensisitve, before you know it you'll get irritated eyes and will suffer for days if not weeks. It's also absolutely essential to get regular checks when first using lenses (every couple of months for example).

Welp, at least you're lucky because you're a man, when my fiancee started taking the pills she no longer can have contacts(at least the ones she used until now), her eyes get too dry and she got a pretty bad infection, apparently eye contacts combined with contraception pills is a big no-no because not enough oxygen is getting to your retina(? I think, or was that iris).

Remember the eye infection from Prometheus? Yeah, her eyes looked worse than that. Sad

been wearing contact lenses for about 15 years now, you get used to them. On the weekend I only wear glasses to give my eyes some rest.

Ive been wearing the Acuvue Hydraclear lenses, and I love them.

Screw lasik, too expensive, and I don't trust it. Heard plenty of horror stories already.

Sure. But after all those years costs add up, you could have easily save up some money by now to go to better doctor. Depends on how bad are your eyes and if you have astigmatism, price per box almost doubles right away, in addition to yearly eye exam.

Obviously, horror stories come from people who decided to take offer from those radio shows who advertise as low as $299/per eye, and people sure take up on those offers, but what they don't tell you, the surgery is done in some guys basement with unpredictable results.

I have heard/read all those stories too, silly youtube videos too, and most of them are utter crap.
Go to respectable doctor and you will get positive results, try to save money and well you get what you pay for. But I encourage all my friends to wear contact lenses to consider Lasik Surgery. Once the money has been returned, usually 5-7years, for contact lenses. It's all profit.

With the very fast development in technology used for laser eye surgery, it's hard to give any guarantees. It has however matured very much and should be safe enough. Any surgery, even something which seems very insignificant, has its risks. Laser eye surgery still has its problems and most of them are patient related so not easy to predict, but you have to take some risk to gain something.

I use "AirOptix Night&Day".
I just wear them non-stop for 1-2 months at time, and then change.
No need to take them out at night etc.
But you really have to go to a optician/doctor and try your first contacts to see if your eyes accepts them.

I hate you.

Well for someone like me, whose eyesight constantly gets worse, I would probably have to visit the doc for corrective surgeries constantly. Besides, glasses are and look cool Wink

-5.00 here Sad

I've been using the Focus Dailies since I was 16, never had a single problem with them. Razz
They aren't very cheap, but one needs to take care of his eyes.

Hopefully next year I will have the money to fix my eyesight properly. Smile

-8, and i've tried contact lenses for a month. My optician supervised the whole operation. Didn't work for me, due to my eyes rejecting those (he tried with a couple of brands). Hell, due to my skin i had trouble with the glasses (metal frame irritates my skin badly).

So, go to your doctor and try contact lenses under his supervision. It's the best thing that you can do.

That's some really bad luck Sad.

I have a problem with glasses, too, since they cause me headaches after a couple of hours. Fortunately I can wear lenses without problems, otherwise I would be screwed. (-6 here and getting worse..*sad panda*)

i have DynaLens lenses, they are supposed to be for 1 month, but i wear them for like 6 months lol. Also i am supposed to take them out at night, but i usually keep them on non stop and just rinse them in the morning. Thats 20 bucks/eye for 6 months and like 10 bucks for the sterile rinse water every 2-3 months ... i can live with that.

on the pack it says

"BC 8.8 DIA 14.4"

and PWR -2.00/-1.75 x 100 for the right and -1.75/-1.75 x 050 for the left.

whatever that means Smile
