I just loved H&D2, however it's an old game which has it's technical flaws (such as bad AI, friendly and hostile).
Now I'm trying to find games that are similar to it's nature and by that I mean where you have a small squad (of four or six soldiers) that you can issue orders to (be it real-time or through a map). The only games I can think of are the early Rainbow six games and a more arcady game which is Freedom Fighters (which was also awesome).
So does anyone know of any similar games to these that I might have missed?
One of the bests czech games have original CS's flawled with starforce somewhere
sadly didnt findsimilar games yet and afaik 3rd game was cancelled back in the days where Illusion Softworks was transformed into 2K Czech and i think 2K will push Mafia franchise over H&D

Yup, that game was truely a masterpiece. It was advanced enough not to be an arcade game but also wasn't a complete simulations to the point of boredome.

Something like the Brothers in Arms/Ghost Recon games maybe?
Or stuff like Full Spectrum Warrior, Silent Storm etc.
Already played S2 and S3 to death, also Hammer & Sickle were nice.
BiA was alright but not really what I was looking for.
Also, Kane & Lynch seemed promising until I actually played it.
There just doesn't seem to be any games who are this kind (which would be a mix between BF3 and Arma2).
the ghost recon games are probably the closest
the newer ghost recon advanced warfighter games were ok too, but were more traditional urban warfare and more straight forward action
just avoid the 2012 ghost recon game
for stealthy ww2 stuff there's death to spies, where you're a single agent performing undercover sabotage missions with uniforms and all
closer to hitman gameplay actually than anything
there's a mod that combines the original with the sequel and improves both
Unfortunately, H&D series was a bit of unique. From the Illusion Softworks and Pterodon there is also Vietcong + Fist Alpha expansion.Probably the closest thing to the ride you get in H&D.
And, of course, the original Operation Flashpoint and ARMA series (try to find an Operation Flashpoint GOTY that has the Red Hammer campaign, too).
freedom figthers and vietcong...what a games:)
i will never forget the night mission in vietcong (free hotages from enemy camp)
the screen was completly dark and you could hear the team members around you, everyone from different direction in the jungle, till approaching the camp:)
Great game. Deep strategy and love how timing of your squads attack meant success vs disaster of the mission. Sadly I do not know of any recent games that matched the gameplay of HD and HD2. There has been a renaissance of well crafted PC games lately tho, so maybe someday soon some publisher will notice a lack of tactical squad based games in the mold and develop one... Doesn't hurt to hope right?
I did play smierc, however the one I played was in Russian and I didn't understand diddly so I dropped and forgot about it. Perhaps I should try it again (this time in English). ^_^

Do it! Those games are really good (and underrated..). You're always alone on the field though, so it's more like a military Hitman than a H&D look-a-like.

oh and when you get those remember to play with the clone version or the mini-image in Deamon Tools , because the Reloaded crack for part 2 was borked and with it you get the german censored version = no blood no decapitations etc.. [or they used a german non protected exe ]
I loved H&D because it was also sort of a simulation then just a shooter,it took thinking and planning. The only thing that comes close these days is the Arma series,Stalker series, and the Death To Spies series.I much prefer 1st person for these kinds of games.
Being a gun collector, I always noticed some flaws though in the H&D games like the BAR being a belt fed and the Johnson rifle was bolt action which was a total screw up by the developers. The real BAR has a 20rd mag and the johnson is a semi-automatic. It always annoyed me that the Bren could only be fired while prone to but even with these inaccuracies it was a great game and the series is missed.
