Seeing as the forum has been getting some nice touches as of lately, the one thing I personally miss that other forums utilize is a user control panel. Main part of it I miss is thread tracking. Tells me what threads I posted in and it keeps itself refreshed in order of threads still active. New post goes into the thread I am "subbed" to it gets moved to the top. When you click on the thread it'll take you to your last post so you can read from there. Next time you click on it, it brings you to the last post you read so you can read the current new posts.

Threads in the game section especially move pretty quick so it gets annoying forgetting about a thread that you were part of and the only way to find it sometimes when discussion died down days later is to do a search for it.

Yay? Nay?

That's like 1% of the use of a control panel.

this kind of functionality would bubble the user experience and you would start missing discussions
it's a speed-up in short term and in rapid conversion, but just slows you down on longer usage

Hey MRT, what was the conclusion to this. You said you logged into my OCN account to test it out but never heard anything beyond that.

A forum upgrade is coming. This has been siderailed for the time being.

It is not a small "touchup" as it would require quite some effort to implement, and is not sensible at the time being.

Hope this clears it up.

Ooooh! Sounds good indeed, thanks mrt! Though I really hope this theme can be kept as an option - if not default still - as it just wouldn't be the same without it it

Aye, couldn't agree more with this. The blue background + main structure at least, for the nostalgic people xD

Always some downtime, but no need or it to be big if everything is tested right.

(Of course there is always something that goes wrong Very Happy Smile

It is. Although - when its done®.

I am expecting huge hurdles porting this theme to phpBBv3. The styling systems aren't compatible at all. The best thing would be to fancy-up and refreshen the current theme while porting it. I'm sure there are suggestions that could make this theme even more attractive and also useful.

Then there's the tie-in with the websites database. That part will have to be re-implemented for the new board.

Also some functionality will be lost. Especially the custom hacks.

If anyone wants to volunteer to speed things up.. i'll be glad for a helping hand. If anyone is good with graphics or has experience with the phpBB template system, your help would be appreciated.

CSS/php/js - I guess. Probably Paul and Interinactive can dance around me in circles at this point, but if I can help, I'd love to.

I will again offer my services for a mobile client in iOS. Or maybe you can add a mobile style for mobile devices.

phpBB3 does have several plugins available for it such as Tapatalk. I personally prefer the full site but with a mobile stylesheet, but installing one of those plugins may be good for those who do like them.

As for what I can do, pretty much all of the above apart from designing Razz

I can implement all kinds of complex shit in CSS and JS, but don't ask me to come up with the original design, might as well ask a 3yo to design it Laughing
