What's up with this scene vs non-scene HD releases? Which one should I be getting then?

Do scene groups have to obey some retarded and obsolete rules resulting in worse compression/quality? I saw you guys were talking about it in this thread earlier.

Scene releases have gone a long way in the last year, but that's not saying much because the tools are very mature now, so even without much thought or care put into it, the result can be good. Still, non-scene releases are a lot better.
