|

So somehow in my country a law was approved by the senate and is close to becoming a law.
Iy prohibits talking against and about important goverment officials like the pres and vice pres and senators etc. Anything against their morals or image gets jail.
The press is accusing them of eliminating freedom of speech since they wont be able to criticize corruption etc....
Any other countries have something like this???
Edit: eff this phone keyboard

Garus damnit -_-, so i guess this isnt common. They are citing some bs to back up their law.
Right now the country is having protest every day. In a protest in a university campus the police went in and used live ammo and killed a student. That revolted the public and now we are facing a big protest this sunday. I sure as hell hope it blows out of proporcion. A lot of us are going . But it all indicates that peaceful protest arent gonna stop the gobernment from doibg what they planned. Now im seriously worried about life here.

Maybe. After all this, there would need to be some real fucked up shit to be considered "blown out of proportion".

By blows out of proporcion i mean that it should be EVERY dominican available there, and then a forceful protest maybe violent. I dont know what is needed right now. i would wish for the military to hit the state being backed by some good concious people and overthrow this fucking gobernment once and for all and just show us this country being handled as a private company with every dominican as it actionist.... I dont know if peaceful or violent is the right choice, but so far, peaceful has gotten us nowhere.
If things pass as the government wants it then next year is gonna be ROUGH and we are gonna go under a lot of control and pressure and i dont know what i personally will do in this country. i can barely hold my home with my current income, and its gonna get rough really quick.
Right now the murdered student is 6 feet under and the police has gone "we are sorry...." and jailed the policeman who shot and every police that used live ammo is being judged. But that isnt a permanent solution.
What worries me right now is this new law as it will gag the press.
And the shooting at the campus is very ugly, theres a video on youtube where someone recorded the police shooting live ammo, requesting it on their phones and then shooting and killing someone and saying "that one is down and now im sure he wont stand up anymore"
And just now a female professor has died after being wounded in a protest because a community didnt have water since the Hurricane Sandy hit us, she died and its being said that the police shot her.
We havent had a powerful riot since almost 15 years.... i hope this is the last straw and the snowball effect takes place and we can finally gather force to do something with this country. On the other hand i doubt it and thats killing me.
