Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
.... and then I read "and potentially cover other platforms" -- no thanks. I don't want a Frontier/Elite has to take PS360 into consideration I guess that's where the real money is these days, but to think of an Elite that has to be scaled back in order to work on ancient hardware is just too painful.

I certainly hope you're right, especially considering you can't even get into the "design community" to help influence the game unless you pay £300+ God... a new Elite and they had to go and mention "hopefully other platforms!" too
I knew as soon as I read the title of the thread that it'd be a fucking kickstarter campaign. March 2014. Jesus. If they've really been working on it for years like they say you'd think they'd have more to show than a wall of text that basically parrots what Braben has been saying for years.

There is also the fact that as long as we hit the threshold, it commits us to making the game
No, actually it doesn't commit you to doing ANYTHING. There is no guarantee that anything will ever be delivered.

We’re using Kickstarter both as a means of test-marketing the concept to verify there is still interest in such a game that extends beyond the individuals who regularly contact me about the game
What kind of horseshit is that?? Has he not looked at the internet in the last 20 years? People have been BEGGING for a fucking Elite sequel, much as they were for Wasteland.
Elite is one of my all time favorite games. But for some reason I'm VERY skeptical about this campaign. Especially with the "other" platform comments. I mean, fuck, not even a video? No footage, screenshots, concept art, ANYTHING? He spent all that text saying nothing new. He brags about having a huge team to work on the game but gives a dev time of nearly 1.5 years? And his description of the game is basically that of Evochron. And that was, at least initially, developed mainly by one guy.
Sorry Braben, you're going to have to work a little harder to get my fucking money, no matter how bad I want a true Elite sequel. fuck that.
It doesn't seem to be a MMO but it seems there's a lot of focus on multiplayer though I can't say if it means the game is always online dependent or if that feature is just for the MP aspect of the game.
No gameplay video = no donation. Devs should show something playable or at least ingame, as Star Citizen did, would make for more goodwill from the community knowing they were investing in something tangible.
Only played the last one, "frontier first encounters" first with bugs (*%& Auto-pilot) and a few years later after patch. In total must have been one of my most played games ever.
Be skeptical, get nothing, pledge the price of lunch, and you're closer to getting something
I pledge because I can, obviously if it's going to be a big loss then don't, but if you really liked the older one, this is as much of a chance as you're ever going to get to see another
That's it. I think it's the last chance. At least for a Braben's Elite.
The funny thing about Frontier is that it was pretty much the largest game at the time (100 billion planets or something) - and it had a tiny HD footprint. 800KB for the Amiga version
This is great and all but no video, no screenshots, no nothing?
It's strange, isn't it? Not just because it has been in "active" development for a year (or more.. who knows?) but also because they had the game running in the background of the BBC interview. Nothing shown on Kickstarter .. no videos, no screenshots, not even any real and tangible information.
