What's the fastest and easiest way to get a piece of any video into animated gif?

Every time I watch something there's always some scene or moment that would make a great reaction gif, and I'm never prepared.

I always do it the complicated way Sad

Take vdub to cut the piece out of the movie I am watching, export to avi. Open video with photoshop, optimize for web and save as gif.

I use Avidemux to convert video to JPEG images, then import that to Gif Movie Gear (which has a lot better editing tools than Video Avatar).

I remember doing them with vdub and exporting everything as pics. Then putting them together in imageready and cutting most of the frames out to make it smoother and smaller. Took a fuck load of time Very Happy All my gifs are lost now tho Sad
