Great Movie indeed!!!
One of the few movies that left me sitting pretty stunned for some seconds when the credits were rolling...
Also check out the other movies by Park Chan-Wook, a very promising South-Korean director.

Oldboy
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
Joint Security Area

For those who aren't familiar with Asian cinema, try it!! Also check out Takeshi Kitano and Takashi Miike movies. AWSOME STUFF Smile

I rewatched oldboy recently 2 times. it is one of best movies ever made imo. The cinematography in it is amazing. all the camera angles are smart and overall I adore that movie.

have not hopes for remake. We will see

holy shit @ digging up an almost a decade old thread Laughing

but the remake looks shit though, as expected, the style of the original is completely gone, i dont even know what theyre trying to do with the movie now...

oh and btw, judging from a certain scene on his tv, it looks like the ending will be completely changed, i figured an american director wouldnt have the balls to go through with that Laughing

I just started watching the trailer. At 0:16, there is a shot of someone watching the protagonist over security cameras.

Still haven't watched any further. This is just a minor thing and I can't put into words why it feels so wrong, but it shows that the people behind the remake don't understand the original.
Maybe it just makes me furious that it's such a cliche shot and Chan Wook Park tries so hard to avoid cliches like that.

All the magic is gone..we never asked for this. Sad Such a recent movie, basically still perfect, but nope, they had to remake it anyway because fuck yea mainstream!

Brolin's efforts to make his character believable are noticeable, but everything looks so empty and dull. Adding 'Murican-related stuff everywhere to make the experience more 'authentic' is the icing on the cake. Meh.

it will be better than the average us remake of an asian movie, but it still wont be good judging from the trailer. i am sure the epic fight scene on the way to the elevator, that was done in a single 3 minute long take, will be cut to hell and back.

Damn, a good cast but as I said this trailer doesn't make me enthusiastic for it.

For me it was the part where he wakes up in the suitcase, and he's in an actual field and not on a rooftop.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

seriously I've watched this film three times now and dont really see whats so good about it. I like the bizarr dark humor, the fight scenes are well made and I like the guy in the lead, he just fits the roll. But the story is kinda meh, it starts of intweresting and suspensful but ultimately becomes kinda predictable.
Okish but nothing more...
