So, does anyone around have a Nokia 500 handset? How's the call quality, battery life, etc? Cons/pros, I need some help here, I wanna get one to replace my Galaxy Mini, which is starting to do sudden restarts, and the battery keeps going lower by each day.

Oh, it doesn't matter that it's not a droid, I'm getting sick and tired of it, dunno why.

Okay, I'm turning to a Samsung Wave Y, with BadaOS 2.0. Opinions on this one?

Ew.. is there any particular reason you'd chose Bada over Android? Neutral

Yeah, I'm looking to swap my Galaxy Mini for it, since it's starting to show it's age and it crashes, random reboots, battery doesn't last for as long as it did, the call quality is pretty low, with weird sounds on the other end.. I'm looking for a trade, before it will eventually die..

I just want a decent phone, with a music app, relatively good battery, and some good call quality. And wifi. I don't want it to be a droid. I can't afford to buy a phone atm, so laugh all you want, iNatan. All you do is laugh and post lol wut, so you either give me a good advice, or just fuck off, I don't need this shit.

Well if you don't want anything of note, I don't see any reason why a Wave Y wouldn't be good enough for you. I still think you'd be best served overall if you managed to trade your Galaxy Mini for another - more supported - platform. How about looking into a Galaxy Spica (Galaxy 5)? It's a very cheap mobile, still has decent specs for such a low price as well as offering Android 2.0 (and Cynogen 9 4.0-based unofficial mod) so you'd have a better selection of apps.

~edit~

Damn.. sorry.. seems the Galaxy Mini is the UPDATED Europa (otherwise known as Galaxy 5 and/or i5500 and/or Galaxy 550 and/or Corby Android) Damn it Samsung.

So, yeah, it's somehow a refresh over the Galaxy i5500, it has better specs, but the display is meh.. VERY MEH. The Spica is very slow, and doesn't have an integrated GPU, all of the Cyanogen ROMs are very sluggish to say the least, due to the lack of GPU libs etc. Idk what to say or do.. I had an offer with an HTC Diamond, but it's old and..

The problem with BADA is lack of software. It is awful boring having a smart phone without the smart. Believe me, I know from first hand experience with Windows Mobile.

How much does the Wave 3 cost? Why not get an iPhone 4, which still runs all software on the store. A store full of software makes it really worth it.

Yeah, I know about the lack of software on Bada, I'm not looking for a very smart phone atm, because I can't really afford one. Wave 3 has the same price as an iPhone 4 here. I don't have the money you do, this country is really fucked up, I wish I could go back in time, when I could afford stuff like this without breaking a sweat.
So, is the Wave Y doing it's job as a phone, music player and web surfing every now and then -device? Is the CPU lacking on power for the OS to operate without any hiccups and hangs?

Oh, and you see, this is a much comprehensive and non-irritating opinion than "Bada Laughing". This is certainly worth a "Thanks, Leo", not aksjdkasdhajskdhkajshdkjsahkajsd DAM YOU! Laughing

I am not familiar with Bada phones, is the Wave 3 an expensive phone?

To be honest, looking at the specs of the Y, even an iPhone 3GS would be preferred. Mot games run on it, and it's still holding its own in term of a browser.

I am sure there are similar alternatives. Can't you buy a second hand phone?

Yeah, the Wave 3 is pretty expensive over here.
And I'm trying to trade the current phone, I don't have the money to buy another one - even second hand. A 3GS revolves around 130-150 euros. I had one a few years ago, I only used it for 2 days, and it died.. and I sold it for parts.

From what I can tell, the Wave 3 is around $250-300. You'd no doubt get it cheaper on a "sign your life away and we'll ruin you slowly over 2 years" contract.

yes. Typical 2 years contract. Why would I ever want to buy a smartphone on my own and then pay bills separate?

Personally I prefer pay as you go, you have to buy the handset - sure - but at least you're in control of the outgoings.

So, I came home, I got it. The Wave Y that is. It's pretty good actually, it's fast, it has excellent call quality - that's what I was aiming for in the first place, the music sounds pretty decent (earbuds ofc, not speaker), I don't regret getting it. One thing I don't like tho' - THE TOUCHWIZ UI Sad, but I'll get rid of it SOMEHOW. The display is pretty crisp, it's okay for now. Oh, and the phone looks like it's new, unlike my Galaxy Mini, it had lots of scratches, on the case and on the display Very Happy. I'm gonna try and stack some cash for a better phone, maybe next year. I like the Galaxy S Advance, looks pretty neat. Or the Galaxy Nexus. HTC - never again, my Sensation's display protected by fucking Gorilla Glass cracked like it was made out of plastic..

Considering you're on Bada now, there's not much you can do to change the craptastic UI. That's why I recommended Android - simply because you can tweak and change the living shit out of it Very Happy Still, new phone is always fun -- so congrats Smile

Well, I'll just have to live with it for a while. Even if it's Touchwiz, it's pretty snappy and colourful Laughing. Yeah, I know, but I had no other remarkable offers for it atm, so I took the shot with it, since the Mini could've died in the meantime Very Happy. I'll start looking for some decent apps for it, I saw quite a few on the Samsung AppStore, can't be that bad.
Thanks mate

To be honest mate, as you said earlier; if you just want something that's quick and functional then yeah.. it doesn't REALLY matter whether it's IOS, Android, Bada or WP. They've all got the basic rudimentary apps and that's all you need Smile

OKAAAAAY, I got an offer for the Wave Y - an Orange Boston aka Gigabyte GSmart G1305.

I don't have any insight on Gigabyte phones, but this one seems okay-ish. What do you guys think about it?

CPU is slightly slower than on the Wave Y, but other than that? Everything else is superior -- AND you can install CMLMod 1.5 (CMLeclair) to install Android 2.1 on it. So yeah, I'd say it's definitely worth doing.

Yeah, it has lots of CFW versions, I think it's possible to install even the 4.0.3 CM9, it has the same specs as the LG Optimus One, same MSM7227 with Adreno 200 GPU. Downside on this one - it has only 256MB of RAM.

Only 256MB of RAM, sure, but that's still more than the Wave Y Smile The downside is the 600Mhz proc compared to 807Mhz in the Wave Y. Still, for general everyday use you won't really notice it.
