day later, guy sents me a message that motherboard is not working but it was pulled out from my working computer few days ago

now he wants a refund because
Quote:
Hello my friend, Listen you told me that the board was good. I install the cpu and fan and it does not boot."

Should I replay, that he should try to install maybe rest of the components? Laughing Laughing Laughing

I think I might just give him full refund because I do not think I could explain what he should do next nor be his support guy if anything goes wrong all the time, manual was included, should start there but nope its mb fault.

I can bet him $100 that if I install it it would work -,-

Oh boy..... if you ever decide to refund him tell him to take a picture of the motherboard, after that tell him you will refund him only if he agrees to this:

- Record a video of him hammering the motherboard and breaking it in half. If not then the mobo is working and he must follow all the steps of how a mobo is assembled with rams etc and then boot.

Just so he doesnt keep a good mobo after he notices he was retarded. Wink

Hell no, don't refund him... Don't be a pussy, you sold a valid component, so keep the money and you're done.

You are not responsible for other people's retardedness.

ask him to send a picture of the installed board with the components. for 2 reasons, primarily to post here for the lulz and second, if he ever disputes the trade on ebay or paypal or whatever, youll have some evidence that the guy is clueless about what hes doing.

If he reports it to ebay / paypal you are going to be shafted either way.

Is it really that easy to scam? So I go and buy a new motherboard, the report it as not working?

eBay and PayPal invariably side with the buyer, yeah.. it's easy to scam Sad Of course you could always demand he sends the product back before issuing the refund.

still say ask him for a picture first... just say its so that you can check the condition of the board with the components installed and everything hooked up... that way you atleast have some evidence that its his lack of knowledge thats the problem...

I got shafted the one time I tried to use ebay, they sided with the seller even though he was being a dickhead (my opinion and not that of ebay of course)

does it always work, I doubt it, but there are countless horror stories of the seller getting shafted. I cant think of many (any!(!) that involve the buyer getting shafted when it comes to ebay / paypal support.

Thats what Id do. Ask for proof that hes made the board unusable, crack it in half, pry off a slot, something...so that way if it DID work, it doesn't anymore.
And if it didnt work, doing that doesnt make it work any LESS. so disabling a 'broken' part for proof of refund shouldn't be a big deal.

What.. He will need to send the motherboard back before being refunded.. Surely!?

Edit: I think I would video opening the returned parcel too, while the delivery driver is still there, just in case he send an empty box.

Not always. or at least use to didn't have to on ebay if you bought from a person (not store).

if the item was useless, or broken. the SELLER had to pay to ship it back. and you could opt out of it and issue a refund without having to pay to get your own broken item back too.

Most people didnt want to be out MORE money than before they sold it. (the refund and shipping)

So not sure if its still optional or not.

reason i just have my old working components collect dust rather than selling them off, ppl are so retarded when it comes to computers they feel they buy 24/7 service along with a videocard.

Not sure, I told him I would refund him if he returns the motherboard with working condition and as well really close-up pictures of bent pins on the cpu, and as wel as broken or burn up transistors.

I think I am done with selling old components on ebay sigh

So, I have another story, I just sold Video Card you can look here

http://www.ebay.com/itm/271072740119?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649

and the guy who won the winning bid, just emailed asking if "Do you include the DVI adapter? i need the DVI adapter to connect to my monitor."

First of all, if it's not listed in the INFORMATION than it probably such a item is not included. I only mentioned items that I have and will include.
And honestly I don't really care what the guy needs.

But either way I am done with fucking Ebay in terms of selling any computer related hardware, it is really NOT WORTH MY TIME and the hassle the comes with it.

Because frankly, people are too retarded and I don't sell things with support included.

But here what it says under Shipping Information

Quote:
No returns or exchanges, but item is covered by eBay Buyer Protection.

So either way I am fucked, since he is covered ebay buyer protection whatever the fuck it means.

Can't you try to give the moron some support? I mean, if you copy and paste his questions here, people (we) will probably help, so you could copy and paste the answers back... Worth the try, I guess.

I think it too late for that, the guy already opened a case against me.

He sent me first message around 9AM, I replied around 10AM that he should recheck everything if it's seated properly, even ram seated incorrectly will cause system not to boot.

Byt the time I got from school-doctor-school again-home was about 8-9PM and I already had case open against me due to "ignoring him"

Luckily DVI Adapter was in the box, I should charge him few $$$ extra

Don't give in so easily -- fight it. Let PayPal contact you and get your side of the story, then let them deal with it. Don't give in.

and i cant do anything... cause then he'll give me a negative feedback too while mine would drown in his thousands long feedback.

I think the proof of dispatch is enough, and maybe you can get the mail to track the item if you claim it as lost, even without signature upon delivery.
