It doesn’t take me long to determine if I like a game or not. Sometimes it takes less than 10 minutes. And 95% of the time my first feelings towards a game are what I’m going to have all the way through. As a gamer I just know what I’m into and what I don’t like. But I’ll admit that every once in awhile I’m wrong.
Here are some of them i gave a second change and really enjoyed it in the end

Alpha Protocol - it has a lot of problems but its great after all
Binding Isaac - on first try but i am addicted on it now
Dark Souls PC- for obvious reason before trying mods
Wolfenstein (2009) - first missions are horrible until you upgrade your guns
Prototype 1+2 - Player seemed ovewpowered at the start , but it got better

The Witcher.

I downloaded it when it first came out and just couldn't get on with it. I then bought it when the EE came out (I think it was on sale somewhere) and couldn't put it down, so much so I finished it twice back to back.

One of the best games I have played in a long long time.

Quite a few, but the absolute stand out for me would be Binary Domain. After playing the game for all of ten minutes, I uninstalled and deleted epically fast, discarding it for a few weeks until a bunch of Humpers started talking about how remarkably good it was -- so I tried it again. I'm extremely glad I did as the game ends up being brilliant.

Actually it was a third chance, and I'll confess that it was mostly because I really wanted to play TW2 but wasn't going to do so until I'd finish the original.

And when I did finish TW2 I was really satisfied with it, because it is a great game itself but mostly because it enabled me to find what a legendary game the original is. Very Happy

Surprisingly Mass Effect 1 only won my affection on the 2nd Play through , first time i really didn't like that much, but since i felt i missed something so i gave it a proper 2nd play through and instantly it became one of my favorites, ever.

I don't think there are any that I found crap at first and then changed my mind about them. There are some like Divine Divinity though... games that I knew were awesome or good or whatever, but they always frustrated me with something, the starting catacombs being the case with DD.

Alan Wake. When I first played it the first 3rd of the game bored me so I stopped playing, but I am glad that I gave it another go and finished it, it's an awesome game.

Not you too!! I deleted the game after the first 5 minutes.. First .. how the fskdjd do you start a game, get introduced to a new world, set the scene with lines like "Yo what are your plans after all this is done" .. ?!?!? "Tell yo mama i love her" ?!?!? After that i shot some badly textured dumb robots in a more than linear walkway while sitting in cover.. One moment later Alt+F4, facepalm, uninstall.. never would have guess this game has anything to offer.. and now you posting about it.. i have to give it a second shot.. damit

Silent Hill 2

It took me something like 5 uninstalls/reinstalls to actually love it and play more than a couple of hours.

Gayvilla2. I really had to get deeper into it
and

Dark Souls
Darksiders
Halo1
Fallout New Vegas

mostly Dead Rising1. Tried it this year after a couple of years (failed back then) and it is awesome. waaay better than DR2.

It really does get better Smile The gunplay ends up being incredibly satisfying, but it's more the overall style, atmosphere and story that really brings it together. That and the bosses... they were glorious Very Happy

Fallout 3.

Now when I think of it, I can't understand WHY I hated it at first? After reading some forums how good it is I gave it another shot. It's one of the best RPG's I have played!

Hasn't really happened to me. Closest thing i guess was Half-Life 1.

Now i didn't really try it but i was tired of FPSes by that point, no real story just run around and kiill everything. It got boring after a while (atleast to me). So even when it came out and was got good reviews and so on i passed on it.

I gave it a chance a year or so after it's realease and i saw that it was different in that it had a more immersive storyline than its predecessors in the genre. It renewed my interest for FPSes. Now i'm still not a FPS-guy but if i come across one with a good story i usually give it a chance.

Anachronox - I didn't really give up on it the first time, I just played for 30 mins, thought it was okay and then forgot about it. Later I found it on a dvd and realized I never finished it. Ended up one of my favorite games.

Witcher

I always ended up bored around the time I got to the swamp. It really grinded to a halt around that part with boring fetch quests. Then I got around to push that part through and it was great after that. Smile

Alpha Protocol

Same as everyone. I was appalled at first at the overall clunkyness and unrefined nature of the game. Then got into it, saw the consequences of my choices, the sneak gameplay was pretty good after a while, great RPG over all.

Uplink

At first, I was like "WTF is this shit?", then I got into it. That started my love for Introversion games.

Evil Genius

When I first tried it, it was like an inferior DK knockoff. No skirmish, ultra-linear gameplay, only 2 maps in the entire game, etc. Then I started playing... Very Happy

Nexus - Jupiter Incident

Tried the demo, and it was underwhelming IIRC. Complicated, uninteresting. Gave the full one a go and it was lightyears above the demo and became one of my all-time favorites.

Dungeon Keeper (back when I bought it in '98, didn't like it at first, then BOOM, I came hard)

I went through some 1.000 games and didn't encounter a single one where I initially didn't like it and later did. I generally know pretty quickly whether I like a game and what I like and don't like about it. There's dozens of games I've grown to dislike once I played them through, though.
