Lords of the Fallen is co-developed by CI Games (Sniper: Ghost Warrior), headquartered in Poland, and Deck 13 located in Germany. It's been in development since September 2011.
On the Dark Souls comparisons, battles will prove tricky, with nine weapon pools to choose from spread across three classes. Melee is the heart of combat, and boasts a range of combos that must be mastered to fell demonic enemies with ease. Some attacks offer brief windows of invulnerability that must be used to increase your survival, as well as blocking and dodge rolls. Just like From Software’s series, attack patterns must be memorised and brutal foes must be slain against all seemingly impossible odds.

The game follows anti-hero Harkyn as he tries to prevent the Fallen God from returning to the world. Leading the evil army are Lords, the game's bosses, and ridding the world of them is your mission (hence the name Lords of the Fallen).
Player classes are tied to magic, a system that hasn't been detailed yet, but any class can use any piece of equipment - and change it up you will need to.
Last year, they used to talk about this game as a very Souls-esque game. Now, I have a bad feeling about this game.
Part of what made the souls series (starting with Demon Souls) appealing for me was the overall look, that gloomy medieval gothic look that, no matter how much LotF tries to cling to DS, it just doesn't have.
Then there's the fact that in all Souls game you travel a world without having the game imposing anything on you, character, background, motivation... nothing like that it's just you exploring a world and if you chose to do so, tackle the other things how you want and at your own pace.
Here it seems like everything is already set by the devs, you're this guy, who's really angry, probably been betrayed and surely he's seeking revenge.
This and the aesthetics in my opinion makes a whole world of difference and a huge part of what made me enjoy every souls game to date.
Since they've revealed gameplay, screenshots and more info on the game, I'm definitely a lot less interested in this game. As it is, it does look like a more interesting Darksiders clone, but after Darksiders 2 I'm not so sure I want that. :/
Played it for an hour , fun game..I would give it 7.5 so far. It looks awesome btw , it's Dark Souls rip off , easier , approachable and linear but still challenging with some intersting new stuff...like experience saving shards , you can hold it by you and make that multiplier or die and risk to lose it all..makes some battles more intense. Diablo style equipment with some insane armors and weapons...I love how warrior is difficult to control , you can feel the weight and how slow he is. Gameplay is solid but these type of games always needs some more gore. Nothing revolutionary but a nice game to kill some time until Bloodborne comes.
I can agree with this review btw although I gave it a bit more.
Nope on PS4 , I dled it form PSN it's just ~9 gbs.
And I love how gp changes drastically with each new type of weapon , every time I need to adjust to new attacks. Story and charachters are shitty tho , and I don't have a clue what's going on ..finishers from behind are a nice touch too..
