Yep, the political system in the US is fucked beyond repair. The whole two-parties only (have any chance of winning) is pretty fucking disgraceful. Add to that the fact that it's a point system (each "state" is worth x points), and it's outright laughable. As an example - Texas is worth 34 points. If you win 51% of the popular vote there, you get ALL 34 points. The 49% of people who voted for the other liar, er candidate, get their votes thrown in the trash. So no, your vote doesn't count if you're on the wrong side.
Then again, I'd imagine politics the world over are pretty fucked up, our Euro brethren just do it quieter and with way more class!
I do tend to wonder though - is voter apathy and voter mis/dis information (aka stupidity) the same here as other places?
