I've gotten a rather annoying case of otitis externa ( swimmer's ear) and I'm not too sure if the eardrops that I got actually seeps into the infected area, if anyone could give me some pointers I'd be more than grateful!

 Spoiler:

Do I need an earwick or not?

edit: lol wrong pic

Could try this

Quote:
Hydrogen peroxide for ear infection

Only 3% hydrogen peroxide is used for medical purposes. Hydrogen peroxide is effective in removing the tissue debris even from unreachable areas since it causes an effervescence reaction. Hydrogen peroxide is used to treat external ear infection and to remove foreign bodies that are trapped in the ear. Furthermore, hydrogen peroxide can soften the ear wax and thus facilitate its removing from the ear. Only a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide should be poured in the infected ear. After a few seconds, it should be drained completely from the ear.

Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one

You just use the drops like you'd use any kind of drops, drop them in the area of interest. It will get to the infected area, don't worry.

As for peroxide, only do that at home alone if you're sure you can properly clean it up again. If it stays there for too long, it will really irritate the skin since it damages cells. It's wiser to let someone else do it.

Cheers guys, I think I'm gonna go to an otologist today though, I fear that my ear canal is way too inflammated for the drops to do any good... I had another look at it today 30 mins after administering the drops and it's all just a pool of the medical cocktail trying to get into the infected area.

The trusty otologist is the right man to contact, you did the right choice. Let's just hope he doesn't take any samples from your ear.
