I speak Dutch - German - English - French , and was looking to learn another language , spanish turned me off after a unpleasent stay in Barcelona , also Russian sounds alot cooler , and i always was interested in russian military hardware , and often had trouble understanding russian documentaries .

Now its a big jump from a germanic language written in latin alphabet to a east slavic language written in Cyrillic , especially for starters Cyrillic will make it difficult to use written guides .

Now my interest is more into understand someone speaking it , and in return being able to say something back , skipping the Cyrillic writing and maybe if its a written guide to use englishfied ( i forgot the right name for it ) version of how its pronounced for non russians .

So questions is , and maybe the russians on this board can help , how would i best go for this ? are there good internet sites to do this ? are there good payware suites that teach russian language ?

any input is welcome Smile

Japanese isn't that difficult, the grammar is very simple, the kanji could take some time to memorize, but it you stick to romanization you eventually will learn the kanji.

Imo mandarin (chinese) and arabic are the most difficult languages to learn, mandarin is a extremly unorganized languange with a very complicated grammar.

if you mainly want to speak it, try the Pimsleur audio language courses. Should be easy to get on any of the bigger torrent-indexing sites...

Yeah but still extremely easy pronunciation, theres no surprises in its sounds because its all phonetic based on the hiragana. So its kinda a double edged sword, easy to learn to speak, but hard to read.

check if there's any Pimsleur audio courses (I used that for polish and it's brilliant)

Russian is a nice language to learn but like any eastern european language it will be extremely difficult to teach yourself, it's easy to make mistakes but finding some ruskis to speak to on skype etc will help out a ridiculous amount

the best thing about russian/polish is that everything is said exactly how it's wrote.. well almost everything Exclamation it makes it ALOT easier

don't sweat too much over grammar, grammar is ridiculous but you'll get it down with time

Why not learning Serbian or Croatian, where everything is pronounced exactly as it's written so it's one worry less Smile
And also when you learn either Serbian or Croatian, you automatically know 90% of the other language Very Happy

Yep, Serbs going abroad are prone to learn other people how to swear first -.-

And it's "nema problema kurvo, jebem ti mater". If it's in english, it would be pronounced as "naemaa problaemaa koorwo yaebaem tee maataer" Smile
