Gonna spend two weeks in northern Italy for two weeks with my parents. Visiting Venice, Verona, Torino, Milano and Firenze. It's been about 2 decades since I've been there, so it should be a blast. Hopefully I can get on the hotel wifi so I can get my daily hump-dose. Very Happy If not, see ya in 2 weeks.

Survived the first day in Venice, despite the unbearable heat. Seriously, more than 15 minutes on the open sun could cause a heatstroke. Apart from the swarm of beggars, it was pretty much as I remembered it. Smile

Welcome to Italy xD

It's a pity that you found the hottest week of the year, the trip would have been much more enjoyable with "normal" temperatures. Razz Yesterday tourists were even taking a bath in a fountain in the middle of Siena, go figure. Laughing

Tell me about it. Very Happy

We arrived in Firenze today, and I'm already wishing I was back in the Venice cold, it's so fucking hot here. Very Happy

Loving it so far, too bad I need to wait a few minutes just to send this one message. The Venice hotel's wifi was lightyears above this. Very Happy I even doubt I can spend my SG credits and gonna stall on 300 for a few days. First world problems. Very Happy

Firenze is awesome. Saw the tombs of Michelangelo, Dante, Machiavelli, and Galilei. The fact that Galilei's tomb was in a church was so reeking of irony that I almost burst out laughing. At least I would have if it wasn't so freakin beautiful (same with the others, statues and everything). Also saw the David of Michelangelo, it was surprisingly huge and detailed. Apart from that, it was a usual siteseeing day, a cathedral, a tower, etc. And heat. Oh, the heat... Very Happy

Nice! Glad that you liked it Razz. Everything is covered by churches in Florence, most of them are deconsecrated but still, it's quite impressive. Very Happy Ponte Vecchio and Piazzale Michelangelo are great places too. Smile

Tell me about it, last day in Verona was mostly like a cold shower. And on our way back to the hotel, we got off the bus at the wrong stop and had to walk back to the place, in freezing rain. The fact that none of us caught a cold and the camera survived almost made a religious man. Very Happy

Ok, it's a bit later than "tomorrow morning", but better late than never. Very Happy

I only uploaded the better pics, since there are a lot of those that are poor quality (the cam had no shake-compensation) and are less interesting.

Venice
Canal Grande

A smaller canal.

One of the churches (San Paolo I think). Ezio would be right at home. Very Happy

When we went up to the St. Mark tower, it was right around noon and they started ringing the bell with people below it. It was loud. Very Happy

The Bridge of Sighs.

Firenze

Dante's statue right outside the church where he is "buried".

Galileo's tomb.

Same church, there was a small corridor that opened from the yard with that statue in it. Every single tile on the floor is an individual grave, as well as those on the wall.

Just a Romulus and Remus statue next to the leaning tower of Pisa.

Milan

The Moon was just at the right place for this one. Smile This is the church where Leonardo's 'Last Supper' is housed.

Verona
