I'm unable to play MP3's or indeed MMA's in 5.1 on my Realtek soundcard through WMP or VLC only in 2.1. It works for things like streams, but only those that are not WMP based like the BBC player. On Sky player which uses Silverlight and WMP it only works in 2.1 as it does in VLC and WMP for MP3's. Flash and BBC player are fine in 5.1 and I have a test AC3 6 channel file (which plays each speaker individually) and that works OK in 5.1 in both VLC and WMP.
There is no 'speaker fill' option in the Realtek HD Audio manager and I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers and have updated the codecs. Help please!
odd. what motherboard/audio is it? i have that option on my realtek driver panel, and in the normal windows one (control panel/sound/default device properties/enhancements) on my alc898 chipset.
