€800 is a lot of cash, but that should only be for the first year.. each year after that your no-claims bonus should drop that premium by a LOT. I think, in England, 5 years no claims can actually end up giving you a 50% cut on your policy payments .. and, of course, the longer you've been driving the cheaper your insurance gets anyhow.
Still sucks though, especially as insurance companies are nothing but scam artists anyway. If you ever do go to claim, they'll do everything they can to fuck you... and then they'll fuck you AFTER they pay by putting your premium up. Joy.

Well, my monthly income is around 1100 euros, so it's almost like i work a whole month per year just to pay these fuckers. And i really wanted an upgrade - i'm sick of playing BF3 without AA
And really, since i got this car last year, i feel it's such a goddamn money sink : mandatory yearly insurance, yearly preventive maintenance, fuel, washing, yearly road tax, 2-years mandatory technical inspection, yearly tax for owning the car, etc. I mean, it's a great car - reliable and comfortable - but it's really expensive to keep it in top shape.

car insurance: 995 euro/year
personal insurance: 181 euro/year
travel insurance: 131 euro/year
Total: 1307 eur/year (109 eur/month)
The car is a '03 vw passat, and I'm 23 years old with a 70% bonus.
It's not possible having plates on a car without insurance here.
I hate you.

something happens could be making you pay for the rest of your life! I know its a scam but
having insurance sort of helps things to not happen. My house just burned down, had no renters insurance and lost everything

I just signed up for $3600 USD for a year for 3 cars. 2 are financed and the other is my sons car and he got his drivers license about 9 months ago. Move to the US if u wanna be ass raped by insurance companies. Not be cause of accidents. But because of sue happy fuckin idiots trying to make an easy dollar.

Insurance company s are total scum these days, the amount they ask for the cover they get needs to be investigated by the ombudsman or whatever it's called.
It's nothing short of robbery.
If we asked the prices they ask us we would be behind bars for many years.

That's close to what my mum pays too.. even when we were living in Bournemouth. I think, though it's been a while since I last checked, that her premium was around £400 a year.. so roughly £33 a month for fully comp.

Some insurers will allow you to bring your NCB with you, but yeah.. best to stick to one insurer so you don't get ripped off by the fluctuating premiums. Oh and she was driving a 1.8 Astra too.
