You know what? I think I've to agree with FM here. I've tried to watch the wire, I think I watched 3 seasons? It kinda got boring after some time. Sure it was really good at the beginning, but SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIT it's slow.

I tried to watch the first episode for 3 times and when I finally took the time to look at this before 3am, I finally sat through it. And it was just fantastic. After that I could not stop:)

i thought the second season was the weakest, but it was still better than any "procedural" tv series out there. Breaking bad seems to be better to me too, but it has all the ingredients of a drama hinging on character development and "realism" that made the wire so great.

I think best part of the Wire was the reality in it. Crooked cops, corrupt politicians, dysfunctional drug policies, problems with kids from the ghettos, racism, etc. But at some times this series also bored me.
