If that U2412M has same color production than my U2711, that would be my choice. This is just stunning, and would be perfect in work use. That Asus PROART would be also nice, tho the panel they are using seems to have some major backlight bleeding problems (many reports). Also not to mention that DELL is like nearly 150€ cheaper (atleast in here finland). But whatever you choose, you cant go wrong with IPS panel on work use.

HP ZR24W or ZR2440W. The latter is the LED version of this monitor.
It is pretty much known as the best 24'' IPS for the money.

My vote is for the Dell also, been using a U24...something for years without problems, and I had a smaller one from them before that for 5 years without issues.
Don't know about Asus or NEC, just avoid LG, I know at least 3 panels that died after a year...

LG could make every panel in the world, doesn't mean they are all the same. My dell has a 5 year warranty, while the LGs sold here have only 1, IMO it's directly related to build quality...
By the way, I did search for it now and discovered that LG makes less than 30% of the LCD panels in the world.

The vast majority of IPS panels are made by LG. Pretty much the only other company pushing out IPS-type panels is Samsung.
So if you are buying a IPS that isn't directly a 'Samsung' it will have a LG panel.
Yes, a manufacturer decides the quality of the housing, scaler (if any), and other features. But you can't knock LG when even the high-end NEC's are using LG panels.
I can't comment on LG displays themselves as the LG branded displays are typically using their own TN panels and I don't touch TN panels to begin with.
