Today the screen ive been using as a secondary for nigh a decade now has finally given the ghost. What looks like a broken inverter(works fine for 2 seconds then turns to black. its doesnt seem to be the backlight). Getting the parts to repair it would be hell and I really cant be bothered to be without a secondary till I get it fixed, it seriously fucks up my workflow.
My main is a ilyama prolite e2273hds , would love a 2nd of that but can only seem to find it for much more then I paid for it 2 years ago. So looking for a decent monitor for around 140ish euros, was wondering if anyone had any suggestions around that price range?
You can get ACER G237HLA (23" IPS) for that 140€, pretty good quality monitor for the price, have one myself for disaster scenarios if my main monitor blows up. You could replace your TN monitor with this and use it as secondary.
Thanks for the advice mate, Had a look at a bunch of screens today. maybe its just what im used to but all the cheap ips screens looked so inferior in terms of contrast and just general how it looked. Fudged around with some settings but couldnt get it on par with the other screens they had. settled on a samsung sd340 got a nice discount on it.
Probably use this as main for a while as its a bit bigger than my current. Then get one of the more espensive IPS panels along with my cpu/mobo upgrade.]
EDIT:
got it all hooked up, works and looks great. just the base is a little wonky but nothing i cant live with.
now I was just messing around a little and noticed that I have 1440p selectable as a default resolution(in windows as the amd app). tried it out and it works fine too Its sold as a 1080p screen so not sure whats going on. is it normal you can go higher then whats on the box with screens these days?
