Useless Thread name... grr....

on a SF3 note, it's possible... Codemasters being slapping SF3 on everything that moves last few months and with $39.99 tag for this title, they just might be able to afford to slap it on this game too.... Now, what I wonder if "SF3 support expenses" + "actual SF3 cost" still less then revenue gained from people purchasing, due to "good protection" ??? Or did Codemasters get burned on TOCA bad enough to re-think their SF3 plans? Smile Guess we'll see in a week, right? Very Happy

Personally, I wouldn't buy a single title that has SF3 due to constant CD/DVD drive lag experienced all throughout the game... Sad

Personally I think this game, judging from the demo and what I've seen and read about it, will be worth spending money on. I loved the demo, and will be picking it up as soon as it is out.

The game will have StarForce. I been following it over at the CM forums and they have already confirmed it. I also believe they said it will use Pro and not the ProActive which sends out information over the internet about what is on your computer etc.

The thread about it can be seen here, http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=41476&perpage=15&pagenumber=1 .

AND THIS IS A BLOODY DAMN GOOD THING??!?!? Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Jezz Frick'n Hell! CodeMasters can get away with anything as a Publisher and outright treat the "customer as a criminal" eh? Sh*t! Right of the bloody box they subversively copy hidden drivers in your device manager that later on could likely cause system issues!

THIS IS PROTECTION THAT HAS GONE TO THE LIMIT OF DECENCY and such a*s publishers have now totally become beyond anal about protecting their property. I mean a game will sell BASED ON MERIT and if it sux by its sale numbers then it must die! Piracy be damned as like downing VCD/SVCD/Xvid/DVDrip movies off the web, the MPAA will still make its money from movies IF THE MOVIE IS GOOD, PERIOD!

I think what is so striking here is that THE DEMO IS ALSO SF3 Protected! WHAT THE UNFRICK'N HELL IS THAT?!?! We got serious corporate issues at Codemasters to do shiet like that - AND NOONE IS ADDRESSING THIS WITH THEM - the demigods they aren't?!? I think I need to visit their forums and debate this crap.. then again I'm QUITE SURE I'm not the only one who sees this as a BAD SLIPPERY SLOPE and a corner the Publishers should have never turned. This practise is simply BAD for the industry and further will undermine confidence down the road as us, the consumer, become more learned about such vile and underhanded methods to lessen our rights, especially the right to make backups! Idiots!

Yea! How dare they do something illegal to an honest group of people like us! Especially since we never do anything against the law ourselves.

My solution? Put a clause in the user agreement telling the consumer they agree to have SF installed on their computer if they agree to the UA. Any damage caused by SF will be covered by terms already in every UA and nobody can claim it was done without warning.

huh poppy.. the point is its not typical copy protection cause it

A) Installs stealth drivers
B) Stealthly grabs your computer specs (Files on your computer etc and sends it to the codemaster server without you knowing)

I mean.. ok yes use strong copy protection by all means... but grabbing info about what u have on your computer ? that goes a bit far imho

Even sending system "specs" like cpu, etc isn't that big of a deal.. I don't see how they can get away with sending what you have on your computer to their servers.. That is completely illegal.

Example:

What if you have a text file setup with your "legal" codes for your software? Is it valid for them to have that information? NO. I'm sure they won't be sending actual files, so that wouldn't happen, but if they have the freedom to easily get information on somebody's computer, then what is going to stop them from going the next step?

Just a thought..

Actually this is the only good game to come out in a long time. When I say good, i mean innovative, keep you up till 6am good.

Play the demo, its amazing, and the full game can only get better.
