A wonderful mix of both humor, darkness and rarely seen true realness in a show that isn't really about pirates, history or an actual plot but about belonging. It tackles so many interesting subjects, feelings and emotions with so much nuance.
As a queer, neurodivergent, disabled, marginalized person of color this romcom just appeals to me on so many levels. And the plot doesn't even revolve around this kind of representation - everyone is just perfectly accepted as they are.
If you - like me - feel like a misfit that doesn't really "fit" in today's cisheteronormative capitalist society, you can find a home in Our Flag Means Death.

I watched the first Season when it came out and it turned out to be a pretty average and quirky, but still somewhat enjoyable piratey romp.
Now I watched 5 episodes of Season 2 and thought - what the fuck is this shit? They took all the queer and emotional tantrum stuff from the first Season and turned it to 100% while removing everything that was good about it.
Went to IMDB to look for recent negative reviews but it was mostly woke queer, disabled, neurodivergent people giving it 10/10s. Apparently this show has a very active, ideologically uniform, cult-like online fandom. It was so funny so I took some sentences of these reviews and mashed together a best-of then posted it here.
