Based on Paramount Pictures’ classic film, Top Gun: Hard Lock is set in the present day with a brand new story line and new wave of elite naval aviators fresh out of the Top Gun academy.
Top Gun: Hard Lock is a good, old-fashioned, arcade-style flight sim. You're in the cockpit of a deadly jet fighter and tasked with blowing up anyone and anything that gets in your way. Top Gun: Hard Lock is both a single-player and a multiplayer experience. The single-player story is a pseudo-reboot of the original "Top Gun" movie. The pilots have aged and now are combat instructors, while you play as a hotshot rookie trained by Maverick and his pals.
They're still here, doing some serious thingies but the "public stuff" part is gone forever I think.
They used to do simulators like the rest of their duty : in a very professional way.
EDIT:
I will add this :
(this is Lockon FC2)
Jane's simulations are dead but long life to Eagles Dynamics ^^
Back on topic:
"Top Gun: Hard Lock is set in the present day" : With F-14 instead of F-18 ?
"The single-player story is a pseudo-reboot of the original "Top Gun" movie" : They should have add : The game is a total reboot of Afterburner '90 PSX game.
"you play as a hotshot rookie trained by Maverick and his pals" : Oh nooooo ! Goose will not be in the game then ...
Do you guys actually say constructive comments from time to time?
1. I don't care about non-realism, in fact I PREFER an arcade dogfight game than a realist one, more action = more fun.
2. I watched top gun when I was 8. I don't remember it being gay but maybe it was . Anyway, a story is better than no story so this is still good.
3. Real question is, how does this compare to other arcade dogfight games likes HAWX2?
Well,i could partially "enjoy" and play Hawx but somehow i cant "get warm" with this game,i dont know why.It feels like playing a game that isnt quite sure about its "orientation".
I also sense a lot of homoerotic content in this topic and know that my post just "fits right in"
Might store this on a DVD that i put in the closet & get it out of there when i feel the urge to do so

Now, I don't know what hardware costs in Poland, I guess it's cheaper because everything is stolen from Germany and resold...
After playing a few missions I think the game is decent. It's 100% pure arcade, nothing sim about it. Not even a first person view. It feels kind of like Apache Air Assault, but with jets instead of helicopters.

Yea, it's not bad, but it does get very repetitive after a while.
Don't even try flying with the mouse, as it doesn't recenter automatically if you stop moving it (not like BF3). 360 Pad is pretty much mandatory
And that fucking stealth drone....whoever put that in there needs to be strangled!
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
