Details
| Code: | Sega is working on Yakuza 5, which is said to be the biggest installment to date. Kazuma Kiryu returns as a playable character and he’s currently working as a taxicab driver in Fukuoka. Taiga (now with a shaved head) is in jail and Shun is living the high life.
For the first time players will be able to control Haruka, the girl Kazuma has been taking care of in previous Yakuza games. She’s going to Osaka to pursue a dream of becoming an idol, but her agency may have "other" plans for her. Tatsuo is a brand new character who has been banned from baseball for gambling. He’s being hunted down by loan sharks. One of the key themes in Yakuza 5 is "dreams." |
| Code: | Dengeki PlayStation has a feature on Yakuza 5, which claims this game’s scenario is twice the length of Yakuza 4.
Haruka who we’ve seen since the first Yakuza title is a playable character in Yakuza 5. Since she’s only 16 years old she can’t hang around cabaret clubs or gambling dens. Sega is creating new areas and events just for Haruka.
Another interesting twist is Haruka won’t beat up hoodlums, but she has some kind of battle component Sega is keeping a secret for now.
Yakuza 5 is slated for release on PlayStation 3 in December. |

Dunno if you are asking is there a way to go on PSN on 3.55 ? I think so, but I'm not sure... 4.21+ CFW can go on PSN though for sure.

I guess this is only a good year to be a Yakuza fan if you're Japanese, because "Fuck you" otherwise >_> No plans to localise Yakuza 5 as they want to focus on getting out a new game to coincide with the launch of the PS4 (gotta rush that development!11) nor are there any plans to localise the new game they're rushing out either.

Oh nice. I thought I had bought my last PS3 game.
Eh download only. I'm weird I either pirate games on disc or like the real disc. Not big on downloading but I'll make an exception for this. Of course it's all good for you that have hacked PS3s.

Is it worth playing if you never played any Yakuza games?
I got old phat PS3 laying around and was wondering whether to take it out of the closet.
Plus, $40 doesn't sound too bad with all the DLC.

Yakuza 5 structure is quite different from the other games of the series as the story/action is spread in 5 cities with different playable characters. There's the main plot, subplots etc and it's a quite complex game. My recommendation to you is play at least Yakuza 3/4.
Idk though if you have the time to play the 2 previous games because of the upcoming big releases. Yakuza games are big with long cutscenes. Cutscenes are impressive though with absolutely phenomenal camera use.
I hope the game releases in December and not earlier.
