What is Geepu ?
Geepu.net is a passion website i had in mind a couple of months ago,that focused on video cards (gpu,geepu ? get it ? )
The ideea was to do something like a database of graphics cards with pro benchmarks from well known sites, galleries,specs,card histories and stuff.
Well after working for some months on the site ive found that its kinda of a monumental...and probably pointless endeavour to take on my own.
It doesnt help that my mind was clouded by the desire of new gpu in my own pc,and i was all excited and well....i payed 200 bucks for hosting and stuff....and now i don't know what to do with it.
Then it hit me
Why not give the site away...i mean open it up to anybody and everybody who wants to write for a website.
You like to visit your favourite techie site like anandtech,tomshardware etc ....why not write your own articles,tutorials,guides,reviews .
The vision
I want this thing to be open,i want everybody and anybody who is mildy passionate about tech to become a owner,i want 300000 editors and varieed comunity.
I know it sounds kinda crazy,but the ideea is to build a tech site for the user,by the user.A guy can find a cool litle article and can imediately sign up and start carving a category,or section on the site for himself.
The Ads.
Well do you want me to have them on there ? Seriously if a majority of peeople is interested in this thing and things kick off,i will do as they please,ads will go out,anything you want.A donation thing could be made if things get serious,we could move to serious hosting like a VPS or something,curently the site is on shared hosting and costs about 200 a year.
A community driven site
I mean ultimatelly this is what i want to acomplish...a professional looking site but run by a group of people,in a way like a forum,why not,is there such a thing on the web ?
You know your way arround CSS or you are an artist,well you can be lead designer on there,not everybody has to edit and write stuff.We could make a forum later on.
Ultimatelly i think we could mold the site to have a cool identity of its own,like your favourite cafe or bar,in that sense.
So what do you guys say ?
The groundwork is allready made by me,look at it wwww.geepu.net.It kinda looks like a nice site doesnt it ?
How hard can it be ?
Is this like the weirdest drunk post or what ? Also if is there any issues like promotion and shit,admins its not.
Also the site runs on the most noob friendly CMS ever(content management sistem),wordpress,its basically a blog with a fancy makeover...its very easy to do shit on it...kinda.

Also a quick ideea,we could have little corners on the site (man these ideeas) like "julio's hardcore geek weekly" you know,like a program on a tv channel,you got the chops,you can have your own "channel" on the site,like cooking with billy or something.
Also as you can see there is no sign up option,cause i dont know how to implement one effectivelly,lol

Yeah,basically its a forum....but in form of a website.
Do i make any sense ?
Hmmm a rating sistem could work wonders on there to,to avoid shit content,i mean it wouldnt make any sense for someone to come in and post hentai on the site or stuff like that,some admins,rest of the people editors,still reading up on wordpress about user roles.

Sounds like a big project, I wish you best luck! Now your questions regarding comparing "stuff" gets clear 
Just a tip regarding the page: The top part is way too big! The logo + the main image take up almost 50% on 1080p resolution :O

Well you make some good points.
I think the whole ideea is great in my head,i mean i said i want to open it for anyobody who wants to write,but the ideea was to have a number of people at the core leading the whole thing.
The problem is that not many people seem interested in signing up to write something,let alone have a more impactfull role in it.
I didnt want to make a cesspool where everyone comes and write anything and remains there,i just tought if i give people interested enough a website of their own,they would be enthusiastic and start to build on it,make it their own and have an audience.Personally i tought that would be a great motivator.
I think i underestimated that part the most,and yeah it seems in this day and age if you don't have a big publishing outfit backing you up, you are destined to fail.

Regarding the copy paste thing...well it is a database of video cards of course it copy paste,its not like im gonna give some different info on that.I just tried to have a nice presentation of that info.
But ultimately the whole site concept is bad ideea.
