i have an acer liquid metal which has 512 rom/ram

for some reason i am really strapped for space, in my application settings it shows for internal storage 170mb used and 15mb free. I dont have alot of apps downloaded, most come with the phone, the ones i did download i moved to the SD card if possible, i went through every app and checked if any was using more than 1mb of cache for any reason.

Is there anyway i can free up storage? i feel something is secretly hogging up space, i got the bare minimum on apps downloaded purely for communications sake, without those having a smartphone would be useless. Now i cant even update flash or google maps ( both some of the bigger apps but i cant uninstall them as they came with the OS )

any tips?

Try downloading Quick App Manager. It has a one click "Cache Wipe" feature. Try it, you may have missed some.

Not only that, but installing a custom ROM sounds like a good plan. Most of those bloatware apps that come with the phone you probably don't use, right? Also check for any guides with custom hboots and partitions; some manufacturers tend to reserve too much space for the system. Doesn't seem like the Liquid is on X D A (fucking grinhurt smiley Neutral) though Sad

For this phone you have to root it, and use link2sd and force stuff to the sd that doesn't want to move or similar apps.... check the modaco forums .. http://android.modaco.com/forum/502-acer-liquid-metal-liquidmetalmodacocom/

thanks guys , its a very annoying issue that almost makes me want to buy a new phone.

though i am waiting for dual core cortex a15 to come out ( along with the die shrink to 32/2Cool and 720p screen being common first.

but as i understand it 16gb internal memory doesnt mean its 16gb super fast single partition "rom" like i got 512mb of now, but that its internally partitioned in 2gb and 14gb basicly.
