http://yuplay.com/story.php?title=Blades-Time-Limited-Edition-%28Steam-version%29

Blades of Time, April 18th - sort of a sequel to X-Blades.
(Which I liked but a lot of other people disliked, there's a discussion about the console version in that section of these forums about the game, seems interesting.)

EDIT: And this "Shoot Many Robots" game I've never heard of before. Razz
http://store.steampowered.com/app/96400

EDIT: McGuffin
store.steampowered.com/app/58230/

Super Monday Night Combat
http://store.steampowered.com/app/104700/
(Played the original somewhat, this seems to be quite a improvement, might not make it for April though, we'll see.)

(Nexuiz would have been here but it was delayed to May 3rd.)

honestly, there's only two games even worth iso demoing let alone possibly buying, this is going to be one hell of a long month, a good one would probably have 5+ games most of us intend to buy.

We wouldn't have time to play them all, unless we're talking 5h games.

Anyway, there's also guild wars 2 beta this month since i'm gonna pre-buy it, and i'm sure it's gonna keep me busy until diablo 3 lands.

Depends on perspective. From my POV, a month with a decent oldschool indie RPG and a content patch to a game I already played is good. The average month has 0 games that interest me, in contrast.

first of all, let's not bring "shortening the game for reviewers syndrome" into this in this first place, but... since you mentioned it, i can hardly believe that, speaking from my own personal experience only two even possibly interesting games coming out, means i'm going to be playing a lot of time wasting games that i don't really enjoy, some gamers do play more hours than you'll ever put in at work, the industry doesn't need to revolve around people who can afford to put in 2-3 hours at most before bed after coming home and disagree or not, that is a fact.

second, guild wars two.... god i wish you hadn't brought this one up either, sure it has some cool novelties in the way it's designed and how it differs from other MMOs but... honestly, those aren't really good things, in fact the elimination of the holy trinity means that everyone can heal for themselves, everyone can hold their own aggro to a point making tanks a mute point and everyone can DPS as well and everyone can CC etc, etc, in other words, every character regardless of class is fully self sufficient, that right there is a horrible thing to do to an MMO in my opinion, why?
well for the answer to that let me point you to champions online, every character is self sufficient there, in fact it's pretty nearly a total ripoff of CoX and it does it a great disservice too, but why? well simple really, at least when i first decided i'd see if i gave a shit in the first place and signed up for it there was two annoying and huge problems.

1. everyone is self sufficient, making actually grouping up for a party irrelevant and less frequent in general, sure there are typically still groups for the hardest handful of activities, but... what if i'd prefer to just always group with a couple of friends, that's really the best way to experience any game, making everyone self sufficient means that your average player isn't going to be looking for a group unless it's for an ends to a means, one of the reasons CoX succeeded so much where CO failed so hard is that you can typically ALWAYS find a group, even if it's for something fairly easy, it's a good chance to socialize, make friends and see how classes have synergy with one another, i could really go on forever about why self sufficiency is such a crippling thing in MMOs, but i'm sure none of us want that.

2. when and if you do find a good group it's more difficult to find a niche that you're comfortable in fulfilling inside of that collective of people, you get to specialize, be good at a certain thing in group encouraging MMOs, even bad ones like (yes i admit it, it needs new content and quite frankly i hate it more than i love it, but hopefully one day it'll mature) APB Reloaded (for the record APB was an awesome game and reloaded are pissing all over it, RTW listened to player wants and suggestions, feeling that a developer gives a shit alone can sell an MMO and they really were good at that, but let's leave that for another essay) even in that game where the mechanics are somewhat basic TPS type there can definitely be synergy in a group, you can be good at sniping people, or extremely close range combat for instance, depending on what type of weapon you use and consequentially you'll find also that a sniper will REALLY love to find someone who's an expert at fighting up close and personal, games where your class is meaningless like GW2 in that everyone and their dog and their pay content pet is self sufficient and totally able to rely on themselves and only themselves largely, it makes it hard to find a niche to crawl into and practice at so you're more useful to the group as a whole, it breeds players who think less, spam random attacks more, refuse to communicate in chat and only group when and if they need help, in the example of CO, no one and i mean NO ONE grouped up normally, sure there were technically groups, but those were really only for the hardest things the developers set out for players to do and were quite frankly impossible solo and as a result the group dissolves as soon as "the run is over", now i may be in the minority in this right but honestly, there's nothing worse than an MMO with thousands of players who don't want to group, ever unless it's their only option, the holy trinity eliminates the feeling of being alone yet surrounded by thousands of players in a very very tried and true and well tested way and what's more, it leads into being able to specialize and honestly, being able to play around with my specialty and see how i could better fulfill the niche i chose, it always more fun than the actual content of the game, that's why i get so fed up with all these easy mode RPGs that the industry thinks someone wants.

and pillerman, as far as your response goes, i'll have to see it to believe it, just like every other game that has ever seen the light of day and honestly LoG sounds incredibly short and like one that will wither up and die only to collect dust somewhere on a virtual shelf in probably less than 10 hours, but that's not really what i'm responding to in the first place.

the real part of that post that i want to talk about is "0 games a month" really? is that only counting titles as huge as batman arkham asylum? or? what am i missing there? are you including free to play gaming in your count? i know, i know, i've said it myself a lot of times and i probably will a lot more, i don't like free to pay, i never will and it seems like the single most exploitative thing that gaming has EVER done to date, you wind up paying more, for less, both in quantity and quality, but even still some of them can be good mindless time wasters that you enjoy only because of a certain element (like my min maxing for instance, i love to go over a really in depth build and just let the numbers fight it out in the end so to speak) i mean sure, if you're only including big huge blockbusters, yeah there are zero this month and that's really sad.... damn.. but still, i can't think of an example of a month that zero games i was interested in, even though probably 90% at the least of the games that i end up playing aren't ones that are really interesting or ultimately something i'd ever consider paying for, there's still usually a couple if not a good handful of games that probably never make big news but that you're glad you were curious about all the same, i'd be lying if i said i didn't discover at least one diamond in the rough a month (tribes ascend, before you ask, well... once it sorts itself out in terms of progression slowness) like... binding of isaac is a great example to name another one, i really hated SMB and i stand firm on that opinion, the difficulty in that game, it's just too much, i don't want that, i won't pay for that and i don't want to support it either, frankly it pissed me off, that's a bad way to get money from me, frustrate me and don't give me the tools to figure out a better approach and i will hate your game for it every time, i picked it up out of curiosity even though i knew that there was a large chance that this wholly unknown game that i'd seen such bad results from the same developer before turned into a wonderful experience that i was glad i got curious about.
point there really is that i think you're confining your criteria to support your side of the debate quite a bit, can you honestly say you don't discover unexpected enjoyment in even some of the strangest games that you get so engrossed in that you suddenly look up and realize you should have gone to bed hours ago with?
even if it's a small studio game, or some little indie that's a bit of a guilty pleasure, is that zero really accurate?

i... can't even imagine what i'd do if that were true, probably force myself to sleep through a couple of weeks if i could, hell maybe i'd wind up working on my coding some (generally a bad idea, we are bitter acquaintances but sometimes things happen, i guess that's how learning works honestly but.... yeah...) i'd honestly probably have to find other forms of entertainment if that were true and thank god it's not.

Risen 2 for sure.

I'll probably also check out legend of grimrock, and maybe even binary domain if I don't have anything else to play.

And ofc witcher 2 replay when EE comes out.

The Witcher 2 EE!

Was about to add also Risen 2, but my magic crystal ball(s) already see this as a somewhat disappointment. Low framerate, stiff animations... Looks like a sequel to Gothic 3 in the technical dept. rather than Risen 1.

Really? They made a sequel?! I hope it's as good as X-Blades then (maybe even better?). I really enjoyed that game.

As for other games:

Risen 2 (obviously... though the new direction forced by Derp Silver on PB is quite worrying)
Legend of Grimrock
The Witcher II: EE

It´s kinda strange that it´s a steamworks title and it isnt listed on steam yet.

I hope yuplay´s key are multilanguage, will wait for other sites to see what they say.
