Since we got new internet, and router is now in my room instead of in living room.
And my sister is not getting wifi at all, in the basement below living room. livirng room is around 20 meters away from the router
how would one to boost the signal?
I read that I could set up another like access point? but how would one do that?
or would it be btter to buy somewhat better antenna that is connected to router?
Get like 8 dBi antenna or whatever that means?
but antennas according to my router have 7 dBi so +1 wouldnt make much difference
or get something like this.

then use 100ft ethernet cable to connect from router and put it in living room?

your sister has an e-boyfriend and she raged because he was going to show her his e-peen and the connection timed out. Move the router outside of your bedroom and into central spot of the house. you don't need to buy other things... just set the thing up so everyone will have access. why waste money?

I can't. Coaxial Cable runs from basement to my room. That is connected to the router.

umm... then go into the basement, add a coaxial splitter, and then run a cable into the living room? or use a splitter near the tv box and have the router near the tv? or buy a fem to fem coaxial plug and then 10 feet of coaxial cable and then extend the cable outside your bedroom.
So many options...  but if you must... netgear extender should halp...
also if the range of the router is that weak, which i don't think it should be (my sis has a house and her router / modem lasts throughout the house) you could have some derperference.
But there are loads of options. Could be her laptop being shit... have you tried using your smartphone downstairs and see if it pickups wifi?

Man, connection was fine on my laptop that is only one year old but her Asus Tablet had only 1 bar
Her laptops is just shit..it is 6 yrs old at least....But explain to a women that it is the laptop fault not the internetz :/
No. Cable would have to go thru basement and my sister room in the basement and then drill a hole in the floor to get it set up in living room...or through the roof for which I would need like 300 ft coax cable or more xD

300ft ? how big is your house? i live in a 3 storey house with very high ceilings and one 100m reel done 5 bedrooms, 2 lounges and the out house plus i had still had cable to spare so 300ft seems abit excessive to me for one run.

I had to use 100ft(30m) ethernet cable from my room to the living room when I had DSL.
Now the Box is setup up in front of the house in the basement that goes to my room which is just above.
So, I would need around 15m-20m to go up, then at least 30m to go to the other end of the house, then another 20m-25m to drag it to the living room..but then it would be impractical because I would need another 30m ethernet cable run to living room to computer in my room, as well xbox, and media player. So I would 3x30m ethernet cable.
It is better if Router stays in my room, than I do not have to worry about those 3x30m ethernet cables...from living to bedroom another bedroom and finally at end of my room

well is it better then inbuilt wifi in laptop? that laptop is old anyway so probably it has pretty old and terrible wifi built it

also make sure any powersaving mode is disabled in the wifi card settings
same for the router
