"Retina" display (it's not as high PPI as the iPhone 4) is 99.999999% sure. 4G support is also pretty expectable.
Quad however, isn't. Supposedly there's 2 new SoCs in development, A5X and A6 - with A5X still being dual core, but clocked a lot higher and tweaked.

A5X is "quad core gaming" - does that mean just the GPU is quad core while CPU is dual core?

Yes. It's the same SoC as before, just with SGX543MP4 instead of SGX543MP2 for its GPU
Glad to see they went with the high resolution display. They're also boasting with "44% more saturation" - does that mean they stopped fucking IPS up?
Tossup between this and the Transformer Infinity for me (probably similar price). The biggest drawback is still the fact that iTunes is a necessity.

So basically this device should, on paper, be on pretty even ground with the PS Vita. That's VERY impressive and Apple has basically just put out something that, controls aside, could rival the Vita. Now if only they'd start working with devs to incorporate iCade support natively.. then we'd have something worth celebrating.

@ HD: Well I can't say I know all the ins and outs since I don't own a single iOS device myself and the ones I've been working with (and have worked with) aren't jailbroken, but even something as trivial as transferring some eBooks is not possible without iTunes on an unbroken one.

iTunes is not that bad. It certainly isn't the bloat crap it used to be. The 10.5 iTunes update is quite nice.

Still doesn't beat a simple file explorer for 99% of what you use it for, the only useful part is the backups. And that does not require the bloat that it still is (used it on Windows recently Leo? Shit as ever there ).

Sure, all the time. Before 10.5, it used to be very slow and get stuck all the time. Now it works fine, and it's fast enough. Not that I use it for anything.
Try TransManager.

Loving all the used iPad 2 sales going on, people selling their *used* ones for above 400 EUR
@ Leo: not a secret, Tegra is nowhere near as good as PowerVR's shit. Sadly Samsung's SoCs all use Mali, Qualcomm are all about Adreno (of which the version we want to see, the 320, won't be out until 2H). The only one who will be using PowerVR (the 544 IIRC) is TI in their OMAP5 SoCs. And those, once again, aren't out until 2H (most likely late Q4 even, so barely this year). Apple's SoCs have always had more graphical power than CPU power.
That said, Qualcomm's Krait (2xA15) with Adreno 225 will be a good one, which is the reason why I'm in doubt between this and the Transformer Infinity (which will have a version with Krait). Anand previewed a development platform - the GLBenchmark results are very strange, but other than that it'll be interesting to see how Krait's 2xA15+Adreno225 stacks up against the A5X's 2xA9+543MP4. Given that it's a development platform, perhaps something fucked up in the drivers, causing GLBenchmark to fail so miserably.
On a small sidenote, the guy from Tweakers.net who went to the press event said there was some serious lag and stuttering when switching between stuff quickly; most other hands-on previews said it was all smooth, so I really want to see an in-depth review now. It might just turn out that the 543MP4 will struggle a bit with that resolution, even more reason to see the "new iPad" compared to Krait for example

Aye, what Garus said. If you're only, or predominantly, using the iPad for books; don't waste your time. Grab a much-superior Kindle (one that has E-ink, not the new Fire version) and it's so much better.
