I really loved The Artist but I have yet to watch Hugo and The Descendants. At least The Artist winning is consistent with the imdb ratings of the nominated films.

havent seen the artist, but i wasnt that impressed with hugo. it was OK, but not the best film evarrr that people were making it out to be. a nice film, but i didnt really get the fuss.

i think hugo for the FX award was a popular choice though.. shoulda been apes.

who cares about these awards anyway ?

Does it make any movie better ? no
dies it make any movie worse ? no

reality check, the movies are the same, no matter if they won or not.

Only superficial idiots care about that kinda garbage ...

Well I'd guess some people don't have time to watch every single movie out there Laughing I usually watch the nominated ones because I know they are decent films.

Yes. Oscars or some other way to list the best movies of the year. Oscars is just the matter of preference.

Same way I follow GOTY, only I follow games closely so I usually know which games are good before GOTY awards. I don't have time to follow every single released movie. And even with GOTY I find games I wouldn't have considered otherwise.

see, there is the problem.

The oscar winners arent necessarily the best movies.

its what a bunch of old guys decide are the best movies.

That depends on your taste. You need to find a list that fits your taste.

Same way I prefer to read my game reviews from Eurogamer, than from IGN or Gamespot, because they better score games according to what I like.

I have usually stayed clear of all Oscar won movies, since generally they are drama/thriller genre.

I do sometimes watch these types of movies, but in most cases in my opinion all of those movies have too long and stretched out character/story progression. Conclusion too boring to follow.

Hmm, the moment I finished typing that previous sentence, I realized that, maybe I have been exposed to the (Michael) Bay fever. Sad
