A month or two ago my Elite died. It had an NME2 chip installed. Right after it died I got banned from Xbox Live. I just found out today when I called for repair support, but they wouldnt take it cause it was banned.. So Im guessing this happened when the new XBL launched.

Anyway, I took out the NME2 chip cause I wanna put it in my next 360, so right now Im eBaying for a 360 that has a BenQ drive in it.. My question is, and I know its gonna be all guessing, would it be semi-safe to mod a 360 (I wanna use Live) now that the new XBL already has launched? Or will it detect the mod right away?

Anyone in here who's on the new XBL with a modded 360?

I am still on LIVE... Never been banned... I wouldnt suggest putting the chip back in a new system... Just flash it!!

Okay, so any version except of the new Liteon (isnt that what theyre called) can be flashed? Why not install the chip though (itll be cheaper for me this way), you think its linked to my banned console somehow?

Well everyone will get banned its just a matter of time. Everything you do on the console is logged into a file and saved in the internal memory then its uploaded to Microsoft when you are connected to Live and thats how they detect if you have done anything with your system, played backups etc.

I like bum.

I see. I was looking for an older model (one with a BenQ drive) so I could use my chip, but if I can flash LiteOn drive I might as well do that. The thing is I found some old 360s for cheap on eBay. But are the new models more durable since they keep upgrading the stuff in them? Or are the odds of a brand new 360 dying on me the same as an old model never-before-used 360 dying on me?

I've not looked into it yet, but isn't there something you need to buy to enable reading of the liteon drive. i've flashed several hitachi, benq's but i think a liteon will be coming my way soon!!

Don't use that chip, defiantly just get a new machine and flash the Liteon with Ixtreme 1.5. I recommend the xtractor and probe for obtaining the keys, very easy.

What if the console was flashed before ever connecting to live? If even the flash is recorded onto this file wouldn't wiping the hard drive simply stop this from ever being a issue?

azzman, I hear you but why does everyone say they disapprove of the chip? just curious, I dunno myself. Also, do you recommend getting a cheap BenQ one on eBay, or is the newer models with LiteOn drive more durable? I guess the price difference aint all that, but its still noticeable.

Last, the dude in your avatar, is that the guy from that trailer park show? I forgot the name of it but its hilarious
