Hi guys. I have dlink dir-300 routers for a couple of years now. It is connected via wifi to 3 laptops and my pc(my pc have dlink wifi adapter)

for 2 days now I have serious problem. I am loosing internet connectivity. Connection to router is still there but "no internet access"

Only solution is to power off router and plug it again. Then after It reconnects, everything works.

And it looses internet connection to all devices, not only my pc....

any ideas? I reseted it and did wifi with other password but nothing works

What rev. is it? A or B? There should be an option somewhere to stay always connected. If that doesn't help you can flash dd-wrt firmware. Smile

since the connection between router and laptops is still active it's not a problem with wifi.

I haven't seen the options your dlink-router offers so I can only give general advice.

see if there is some kind of system-log on the web-configurator of your router.
if it's ADSL you might want to ask your provider to do a port-reset.
you could also try and change the splitter / modem if those are not integrated - again if it's ADSL.

Let me explain more. It is not adsl router. It is standard cable internet which goes right into the router and it does its wifi stuff.
Also I think I have dynamic IP... But I am not sure. how to check it? I have set my internet connection as DHCP in router settings
dir300 revA.

What happens is that I have internet for like 30min or something and then it loose internet connectivity (NOT router connection)
It works again after I power off and on the router. maybe my dynamic IP is not being refreshed?
I have this router for 2 years and didnt had this problems. And hell... I am not calling those support idiots. Those are most annoying fuckers ever.

I will try to disable wap or whatever security and see if it helps. But I am not sure if it works becouse it is on WEP already and I want password ofc

Also. I have to alter mac of the router during installation to the mac I gave to my provider YEARS ago. Otherwise internet won't work. Its standard isp contract. Just mentioning it.

Maybe I should add DNS address?
Only settings in router wizard set are DHCP, hostname, Mac address, MTU 1500. rest of stuff is blank. that is dns and enable access point unticked

Here are bunch of screenshoths of the utility wizard.

Also. Should I set ip channels to number of my pc's? or set my transimssion rate to what I have?

Just tell me if those are correct and what to change

ok, Ive been using it until morning and it crashed now when watching 720p youtube video. fucking shit. Log shows sending dhcp renew to some address couple of times and then nothing.

I guess that dynamic ip is not being renewed, matbe I should set to static?

Maybe it is hardware problem, i have had routers with bad capacitors before(swollen) and then they start doing weird things like this when they are under the load.

i have/had similar problems occuring in my building :

cable , dynamic ip , dhcp issues :

lots of times i had internet all day long and then suddenly my modem wasnt able to get a new dhcp lease anymore, giving me errors like this :

i called my cable isp and they came and changed something in my plug, didnt work. They sent me a new modem, didnt help either.

Turned out, it was the entry point of the building (whatever that is called, its the point where the cable comes into the building and is then split up to the individual appartments). Turned out the one there, was too weak and couldnt handle all the signals from the different modems, therefor "crashing" under the load.

So, i guess its worth asking your isp if that could be an issue.

maybe its just dodgy routers? i had 4 different dlink dsl2540r routers provided by my old isp (virgin national - adsl2) and had the same problem, only a reboot off the router helped... changing to a netgear router fixed my problems straight away (which i had to pay for as virgin wouldnt supply anything else other than dlink, just blamed my internal wiring - recently changed to bt infinity, ftc, and my wiring holds up fine for 35mbps)

hmmm... Just on a side note.

The problem is over. I've not called my ips or any support. It just stopped dissconnecting. Maybe it indeed was problem on the other side of the cable.
Thanks for support tho Smile
