So during a chat with Sabin, I noticed this one again in my CD rack.

As I suspected, Sabin had never played this - for some reason absolutely noone I know has played it, which is a damn shame. I absolutely loved this to death. It's sort of like JA or X-Com but in its own way. Just the visual style alone is just amazing, it has one of the best soundtracks ever and on top of that, it's actually a really, REALLY good game Razz

I've got Sabin downloading it now (Troll Face), is there anyone else who has even heard of this besides me?

Hell yeah I'm downloading it, it really does look pretty good and I'm surprised it flew under the radar for me. The game seems to give off a VERY strong Hero-X look and I loved Hero-X Very Happy

Thanks Werelds, it's currently downloading Wink

I should glance over my old games more often, there's so much underrated win in there Razz

Amazingly enough, this works on Windows 7-x64! However, getting it to INSTALL on Windows 7 is a bit of stretch since it cannot be done natively --- setup XP Mode, install game on there, copy across to Win7 host, play!

^_^

Sadly, the mouse control is far too fast and causes the game to be pretty much unplayable. The only way to move the camera is by mouse.. and 1mm of movement towards the edge of the screen causes the camera to shoot off across the map. Heh, oh well Sad

Installed fine on Win 7 x64 for me, only had to close rundll32.exe in Task Manager.

I could make the camera fine in the options by lowering Auto Scroll Speed. Not working for you?

I've just been trying that actually, yeah- it's much better that way. I didn't know about the rundll task though, thanks.

So how are you finding the game djaoni? Smile

Sabin's a bit worried about the pace; it's slow, but for me that's part of what makes it so good, because there's nothing better than getting through a mission without any scrapes thanks to good planning ^^

Also, again, soundtrack = So Much Win

When playing AP-based style games, I prefer pace that is more along the lines of Fallout. This one has a great premise, but the very IDEA of the game is to laboriously plan each and every step - much like Red Storm's magnum opus; Rainbow Six. This sort of stuff is Tom Clancy through and through.. but I was never a fan of the original RB6 titles (preferred SWAT3/4 Razz) so this might just be too slow and meticulous for me.

Well you don't need to plan every step ahead of time, it's more reactive planning. At the start of a mission you'll end up going through fairly quickly, but that's also when you run the greatest risk of alerting the enemy and them jumping you Razz

Scanning and covering is the trick to avoid that.

Does it run fullscreen for you guys btw? It didn't in my VM, but that might just be the VM not scaling up Smile

Yeah, runs fine fullscreen.

Only played 3 missions, but I'm really liking it so far.
