Quote:
The new Origin Great Game Guarantee works like this: You may return EA full game downloads (PC or Mac) purchased on Origin for a full refund--within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within seven days from when you purchased it, or within the first seven days after the game's release date if you pre-ordered it (whichever of these conditions happens first).

If something doesn't work out—you aren’t riveted by the storyline, or sucked in by the action, or even just if the game doesn't play well with your video card—we’ve got your back.

Requesting a refund is quick and easy. Just visit your order history and click the “request a refund” link next to your recent purchase, answer a few quick questions, and we’ll take it from there.

Rolling Eyes C'mon try seeing this more nuanced, I mean what differentiate Origin and Steam when it comes to information gathering?
Fact of the matter is EA is trying to change its poor brand with initiatives such as this, the removal of used game codes and it's recent Humble Bundle. Where the Bundleone might just have cost them a whole lot of money pulling that off. Don't get me wrong, EA still do make stupid decision as we saw with the newest Sim City, but shouldnt we cut them some slack when they actually are trying to change some stuff for the better?

With this, maybe.
But with the bundle... wat? Laughing

I mean, even if they were hurt by having to manufacture more copies of the games and... oh wait Laughing

Don't you think some of the people who bought the bundle, might have eventually bought some of the games? And EA would have earned some money, maybe?

Those games weren't exactly selling like hotcakes I'd bet.
IMO their loss is related to their share of all the action going to charity, and good for them on doing that.

But I have no doubt that if that money didn't changed hands they would have made a nice cut with the ~1600000 copies sold so far versus making any other kind of promotion for the same time frame. Well, maybe not for the Sims 3 and it's clueless buyers but... that's it.

Confused

They have lost some money, but only because they forfeited their part to charity.
They have, by no means, lost "a lot" of money.

What, they have lost a lot of money because they could have sold the same amount of keys for $50-60 each? Yeah, those would have been completely sold right around the big crunch Laughing

Define "a lot". I remind you that Sims 3, Battlefield 3 and Dead Space 3 are in the bundle.

...and? Scratch Head

Aside from the Sims 3, that has probably some of the most clueless buyers ever, how much copies do you think those other two origin exclusives were shifting, especially DS3?

As for BF3, no big deal.
How many people would buy the base game alone nowadays versus the whole package? Also, said people would probably end up getting the premium package so it's a nice move all together for EA.

Just won't make them look like lesser cunts, unfortunately.

@areius: Now that's a very nice point. I just wouldn't take it into account for mirror's edge, dead space and the sims 3(?) and not that seriously for crysis and moh 2010 (how long until those two get shut down, anyway?)

Well I was thinking of potential sales, think about Dead Space 3, it isn't year old and I've just got that plus a whole lot of game for next to nothing. And EA didn't get a single dollar out of this. That's goodwill, and yes it might be brand care aswell but who cares?

Dead Space 3 had terrible initial sales, and AFAIK the situation did not improve much after that.

That might be true, but that's not stopping EA just to sell the gameat a much lower cost on their own store, as we often see with sales on steam.

As far as I remember, their sales still aren't as crowded, regular and attended as the steam sales are. Same for the discounts.

Also don't forget that they still might make some money from all these copies with all the micro-transaction bullshit, and thanks to this bundle their potential user base for that just had a significant boost.

Nah, streams will never be that sophisticated. They will always run from point a to point b, since they have from the beginning of the times.

A nice move, but who's fool enough to buy Origin games anyway? (apart from the annual updated Fifa's and Battlefield's that is).

In other news.. "EA vows to never publish another short, 6 hour, single player game again" lol

So can I buy Sim City 5 once every 24 hours and keep getting refunds?

Besides, you guys are assuming that this feature will be available when the next simcity game crashes, er, launches on origin. It will be a good 48 hours until you get the feature to work and by then... Cool Face

Nope, you have to answer questions. They will cleverly ask you if you've bought this title before and then get you!

Of course not, Steam has about 8 more years of experience and in general alot more popular but that doesn't necessarily mean that Origin can reach that level in the coming months/years (tho it seems abit far fetched atm). About the micro transaction, yea thats a good point, I forgot about that Razz
