First off, let's take a minute or two to wait and allow Paul's rage to subside a little... Laughing Don't worry mate, it's not using the GT5 engine and you don't get to "bling" out your carpet Wink This is truly a modern re-imagining that sounds like it could be pretty damned good - could be.

Quote:

A game inspired by Magic Carpet, with modern graphics and features, to name some: simulated water and lava, swarms of creatures, generated worlds.

  • simulated water and lava
  • swarms of creatures
  • generated worlds
  • Tech demo is available!

You play as a sorcerer, exploring mysterious worlds, changing them, discovering ancient secrets, creating new spells, fighting creatures and other mages, building and destroying as you please.

I checked out the tech demo and it certainly has potential, if - unlike From Dust - it's actually used correctly. There's nothing of the actual game in it yet, no monsters/carpets/spells - just the world generator and a water function.

I always found it dreadfully stale and boring.

But.... It was very pretty at the time of release. Kinda like Black and White - in that the technology was amazing, but the actual gameplay was boring and too much of a toy instead of a game.

But that's the Molyneux trademark Smile

Can we at least have Ken Derp & Friends go "YO YO YO AMAZIN' JOB BRO" even when you die?

Looks interesting though. Need to check the tech demo out later Smile

Nice. I actually tired playing Magic Carpet last week. Found my legit copies for original and the sequel, but it kept crashing in DOSBox. Anyone bought a copy from GOG.com by any chance? It's 6 bux, and I'm assuming its fixed.

Looking forward to this updated version.

Not a single game from GOG has failed me so far. I own most of my "old" games twice now, just because the GOG versions usually work hassle free Smile

I thought they wouldn't be selling broken games, but since this thread came up I figured I would ask. TY for the info. I'll probably grab this soon.
