I like this forum. There is a lot of chat about new games.

But what is deal with this numbers of pages for each thread? It's like for the hard ocp forum, they do the same thing.

It would not be simpler to have a new thread for each new subject about the game?

If this forum was working like this I could start reading the damm thread. Like if I'm going to read 10 pages of subject about the games that does not interest me, it's what most ppl do here or what?

Thread one : Oblivion, the vampire guild.
Thread two : Oblivion, the graphic still good.

Confused

If we'd do that, we would have the first few pages of the section filled with Sim Shitty V threads right now. It would make the whole section too bloated.

"Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Nah that would make it waaaay too messy..

You'll get used to these longer topics eventually, just takes time to adapt Wink

I don't think so, I'll need to get used first that the linear forum took over the threaded forum. And I don't think I will ever get use to that.

I have to agree with this, you get used to it, plus the "search in thread" feature really helps for finding or at the very least narrowing down what you are looking for as well.

For start the threads would be much more legible if the technical stuff related to the game was posted in the/and only in the "PC Games - Technical" like it is supposed to be. But nahh.

I think that Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout NV are the only games that could use extra thread for mods.

Ehh no, this is not a news forum. This is a discussion forum, so all discussion related to a certain topic should be found in the same thread.

Some games have several threads because the old ones were probably locked (due to pre-crack "zomg wehr dLd crake" or "releoded can cracL starforce, no?" posts).

That would one hell of a mess if people started creating new topics for every line of discussion on one subject.

When posting, if you would want to keep it clean, you would still have to look for the proper thread, except that instead of just finding that one thread, you have to go through all of them and find the one that fits best (if there is one) for your post.
Likewise (probably even worse) if you are looking for information - you will still search for the thread and then have to figure out which one has the info you need.

You can't rely on people posting in the most relevant thread either - there will always be that one "main" thread where people will post the most on everything. We already have a PC technical section, and it's barely used despite all the efforts to make it more relevant.

I like it nice an tidy. Right now we have around 50 threads on the first page of the PC gaming section. Each one corresponds to one game, so just by looking at the first page you have a good overview on possible posts of interest on 50 different games. I don't want to dig through all the clutter that is going to pop up during the pre-release cracl parties and post-release activity spikes for highly anticipated titles.

Da way neogaf works is if new news new thread \o/
the way good forums work is people discuss games in game threads... BOOOM

creating a new thread cause a new thing came out about a said game is fucking stupid.
one main topic about the game should be all that there is. If you can't keep up with a discussion (which how on earth can't you - skimming through a page is easy) then maybe online forums aren't for you.

Even the most organized forums on the internet get lost in the discussion. One person says something for the lol factor... then 3 pages down the road a person who hadn't read the first three pages cause he's a fucking retard inbred child makes the same lol comment thinking he's super original. It doesn't work.

having thousands of pages per thread works. The discussion is more diverse. It easily evolves. If you repost something here you don't get banned, you don't get trashed... you get reminded that you were lazy and you just read the current page thinking you can easily contribute to the discussion. But still no one trashes you. And you just sit back and lol.

New Topic cause you don't want to discuss the newly revealed cheats for a game in the game thread is just as stupid as creating a new thread because patch notes were released while the game being discussed is still on the first page.

no... if you want to discuss something that was released 2 days after a game, a year later... obviously you're going to make a new thread. but if you're going to discuss something that's 24 hours old... it's going to be in the last 3 pages... of the generic game discussion.

Then again... search within topic is out there... so you don't have to read 100 pages... you just have to use the feature implemented for the lazy people.

One of the reasons I have stuck around here for so long is the discussion format of the forums <3 it

I agree with the majority of people here; the way the topics are handled is just perfect since each game has its own thread -> less confusion, every single news is discussed in the same place, along with feedbacks/reviews/opinions and piratesque chit-chat when the game gets released. Huge threads can be overwhelming at first, but after some time you find them pretty handy and organized.
