Just a few days ago a mother of one of my best friends died of cancer. He has no family in Poland, his father (whom his mom divorced) is living in Australia, and his uncle lives in Canada.

He's only 20 like me too, and he has no family left in Poland. It's going to be fucking tough for him. Sad

The funeral is this Saturday

Hard to think of something worse than that. Make sure to let him know you are there when he needs, it can be really hard being alone at times like these.

It's relative. You get older, with that the people around you get older, so you hear more about cancer. If we'd grow old enough, we all would get cancer. It's inevitable.

+1

You become more aware of it than You used to be.
The anoying thing with cancer is that anyone can get it - no matter how you decide to live. There are people who don't smoke/drink and try to stay healthy in every possible way...and still they die of cancer...really sad Sad

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Yeah, cancer sucks Sad

Does your friend has any job in Pl? Maybe he can move to his uncle or his dad, and try to start anew?

Huh, odd, the father of my best friend passed away recently because of cancer too. He doesn't have any more family left except for a cousin. Also has money problems, can only pay the electric bill and stuff but not the phone/internet.

So I offered him to dump his PC at my place and staying here as often and long he wants. Well, it's two weeks now and he's almost living here Laughing. Comes here everyday after work and only drives back home (with his mountainbike) to sleep. Anyways, I'm pretty relieved that he's here and not being all alone in that old ass and empty house of his (it's in pretty bad shape). We're talking alot about the situation and ofc having tons of fun living up the old times again (it's somewhat like a two week Lan-Party Laughing). He's lighting up again and I'm working hard on cheering him up every day because I think that the most important thing now is that he's got company. Even though me and my family have alot on our own plate at the moment... aunt had two strokes shortly in a row last month. She couldn't talk and wasn't able to move her left arm and leg. Strangely enough, the 2nd stroke fixed those issues and she's way better now but still somewhat struggling and in alot of fear of it happening again. (I mean, wtf?! Friggin human body!)

But I think this is normal, almost everyone is going through this sooner or later. People are getting older and we all gonna see (or have seen) beloved people passing away. It's only natural but still nothing you can really prepare for. Hits like a truck. We even had to see it here on the hump very recently... and it struck me hard because I can relate Sad

Just came back from the funeral, it was quite nice although it was raining throughout all of it.

My friend chose "Love of my life" by Queen as the funeral song, quite an interesting choice but everyone sang along.
