I really want this to great because I love Andrew Stanton, but I have almost no interest from the trailers I've seen.

The cast looks awesome, though, so I'm hoping it's just that Disney's marketing department sucks.

I do yes. I am at a point of my life where I demand some quality of the films I watch. You are allowed to watch every trash out there, no worries. Smile

Actually, most of the aliens in SW *did* speak their own languages. It was rare for aliens to speak Galactic Common, as "English" is known.

True story.

~edit~

My apologies, Galactic Basic, not Common (for some reason I had Forgotten Realms/Dragonlance in my head)

Why should they speak? Why do most aliens have to have a humanoid form (2 hands, 2 legs) and behave as humans? Rolling Eyes

Well most are biologically smart enough NOT to have a biped form..

Most Superior form is more of a floating Crystal-like Xenos which has advanced telekinetics to manipulate anything, has their own forever power source, and can survive the vacuum of space.

Our form is sooooooooooo basic.. Bleh..

I YEARN FOR A NEW EVOLUTION! Very Happy

I don't mind there being a common language which is represented by English (like in LOTR). But alienzzzz coming from another galaxy through wormhole (generic "alienz wantz to taek over world aka Uhhmerica" plot #15234) and immediately speak American English is just mentally retarded. Laughing Thor - god of Thunder Laughing - lands in USA and speaks English immediately perfect English. Yeah right Laughing

OR OR that crap movie Schindlers list where they speak english with that german accent. So terrible.

Not aliens but I believe the concept applies. It's done for convenience and most people agree that not needing to have subtitles outweighs the con of it being slightly more unrealistic. What I'm trying to say it's not the language that makes the movie derp, it's the rest of it.

It's part of it. Usually when there is good plot, other things fall into place - see District 9.

I don't mind replacing an entire language with English. This is understandable. For example, in The Hunt of the Red October, the camera goes into Connery's mouth and Russian turns to English. That was fine for example. And there were no Ruskie accents.

But when aliens come to to Earth and start speaking with humans in English, you know you in for some shit.

Thor is the "quality sci-fi" iNatan watches, now we know Wink

I think for Star Wars it works pretty well with the alien races talking a little bit here and there in their own language, but for a whole movie and everyone (or everyone except 1) talking it, it could get rather tiresome + really boring to have to deal with a plot that mostly will build upon their troubles of communicating Rolling Eyes

I dont mind it at all in a sci-fi movie that isnt supposed to be realistic to begin with. You've got to set such things aside when you watch sci-fi.

Loved this comic as a kid btw, so i can't wait to see this Smile

The budget is on pair with the first Bilbo ($250 million) this isnt even comparable to a POS movie like Thor, and Pixar usually doesnt disapoint.

I read through a bunch of reviews from the preview screenings, most were very impressed by it. Since you dont like Star Wars you don't need to bother though Wink
