Would you still buy it?

And a specific example/question: for those that bought Battlefield 3: if you could play online with a pirated copy of the game and get the exact same experience as the legit buyer, would you still buy it? Or would you see no point in doing that anymore?

If a game is good, regardless if it is SP or MP, I will buy it.

I usually buy my multiplayer games, but if I could get the exact same experience with a pirated copy, and no threat of being banned/penalized - then the game would have to impress, for me to buy. I would try it out with the pirated version first for sure though. Perhaps even play the pirated version quite some time, before deciding to buy or not.

This Smile Though I'd probably wait until the price drops, as usual.

When i was really struggling money wise, like when i was in university i wouldn't buy anything. And i would never buy anything MP i could play online for free.

Now regardless of MP or SP. If the game is good, and i play it a lot; i buy it. Its like how old NFO used to always say. If you like it buy it. Quality developers deserve your support.

MP games are what pushed me into actually buying games in the first place. The thought of paying for any games, movies or music still seems quite ridiculous and incomprehensible to almost all of my friends, so I have no idea how things would have turned out if I wasn't forced to buy the games I wanted to play online Smile

I suppose now, if it's a game I played a lot I would feel compelled to pay for it as a sign of appreciation... I would feel bad otherwise Smile

Hmm, here are the keys to this brand new car. Nope, you don't have to pay it's yours.

Oh but sir, I like that car, I want to pay for it....

I know that's a big leap but why would I pay for anything that I can get the same experience for free?

Yes you are supporting the game developer/publishers but why would you waste your money?

Yup, but only from respectable developers / publishers. Games that have an EA, Activision or Epic stamp on it are pirate material Smile

I used to be a huge downloader back in the days. But now with time limited and dollars on the bankroll i really dont mind getting good games for 50$.

What is 50 $ if you can have hours of fun? No fucking around with cracks, looking for cracked updates, disabling updates etc etc. You buy and play. 50 $ is a fair price if the game is any good.

Still not paying for movies though. I am really really really never gonna pay 20$ for a DVD. You watch it once and you are done. Download takes 20 mins, you hit 'play' and you are watching. Easier than putting it into the machine. You can watch it everywhere. No commercials at the beginning etc.
