Yup. I've been posting a lot lately of how terrible they were financially.

Unless a miracle happens/someone buys the company/IPs, goobye Saints Row, Darksiders, InSane, Red Faction, Homeworld, etc.

how is this exactly? can the developers just go to another publisher and continue to work on games and then release them.
or does have thq to agree with this? because they got the license or anything?

im not really into this. Smile sorry for that stupid question.

for example south park the game.
it's a big license and if thq doesn't want to sell it to another publisher, it will never come out am i right? can they do something like that? or do they have to sell it... no matter what price or even have to give it for free away cause they can't afford it anymore to have such a license.

No. If/when THD (Terrible Horrible Derp) is finally gone, Relic can focus again on Homeworld or other titles than churning crap DLC for Dawn of War and Space Marine to fit DLQ (Derp Low Quality)'s new DLC strategy.

Darksiders 2 is safe, because that's this year, I believe. Weren't Relic working on an RTS as follow-up to Company of Heroes? Or am I confused?

No. Relic is a THQ studio. If THQ dies, Relic dies. "Sure" they could reform, but the Homeworld IP would still belong to the (by then dead) THQ.

Or at least this is how I understand things.

I don't think anything is safe. Yes, it hasn't been cancelled for now, but THQ still exists solely to try to sell IPs/company. If they fail to do so, everything will be cancelled pretty soon.

On their own, they can't survive, so they might as well close now, if no publisher gives a shit about their properties.

Wiki says June 2012 release... More to the point, the THQ store was selling it cheap a couple of months ago, so if they cancel it, it's going to be pretty bad, both from a PR point of view, and financially. They still might can it, though, yeah.

Well first, if THQ are selling IPs, the Relic guys can buy it. There is still a lot of love for Homeworld among Relic. And even if they don't get the IP, they can call it World of Home and make it a spiritual sequel. Wink
